My first reaction upon hearing McCain’s decision was “What the HELL is he thinking?!?!”

After calming down, taking a sip of coffee and considering smoking a cigarette (ex smoker ya know) it makes sense.

The polls this week show McCain down and the economy is the reason. People “feel” as though Obama is better on the economy, this shows McCain is willing to do something about it, not just make speeches.

It’s a direct challenge to Obama, not only on economic issues, but a challenge to the 3am phone call. McCain has picked up the phone and made decisions, will Obama pick it up or let it ring off the hook?

I find it interesting that you would be complaining about McCain doing the right thing.

No, I'm criticizing the fact that he didn't do this on Monday (or even earlier).

I’d like to see them take a 1/3 pay cut and a 1/2 reduction in their retirement plan values so they can adequately “feel our pain”.

RE: “This seems to be a little too overly-dramatic on McCain’s part. Go back to Washington, fine...but no need to suspend the debate”

How does one prepare for a debate when sitting in Senate hearings? I’m all for postponing the debate and having senators in their places, doing their current jobs. Oblahma can vote “present” as usual.

Gov. Palin can handle campaign details while Senator McCain slays DC dragons.

So, Sarah knew what was going on. She is just amazing by the way.

This could end up being like the Gerald Ford election in 1976. Reagan was increasingly popular within the party that Richard Nixon lost...and then... 4 years later...

Wonder if this is connected to Bush’s speech on meltdown tonight?

Could it be that Bush is about to drop the other shoe & tell us things are even worse than reported?

Biden needs to go back too since he's a sitting Senator.

Senator Plugs will probably not be missed.

This could either be a home run or.... the end of the election. McCain has balls.

And real people will see that, and appreciate it. Obama can complain all he wants ... but if he doesn't suspend his own campaign to do the job he was elected to do, McCain will use that to club like a baby seal.

As it is, if Obama suspends his campaign now (after flippantly having said he wouldn't), it will be seen as him following McCain's lead for political reasons.

This is a winner for McCain.

...or choosing a conservative woman as his running mate.

His is one of the best run and most well-timed political campaigns I have ever seen.

I STILL wish someone else was the Republicrat nominee, but I HAVE to hand it to him - Mr. McCain KNOWS how to run a campaign.

I’m wondering how long it will take for the Obama campaign to respond to this. The longer they take, the worse it looks. Put down the arugula Barry, and make a decision!
