I hate dogs. I hate irresposible dog owners even more. Quite a few of them live around me. I run with a samm baseball bat to protect myself from attack.

I never have to worry about my cat attacking anyone.

Dogs = Liberal. They require constant care and attention. Not at all self sufficant. Loud, obnoxious and hyper. They turn mean when you don’t conform to their ways. They will not survive without someone caring for them. You always have to clean up after them.

Cat = Conservative. Respomsible, self sufficiant, friendly calm and happy. He doesn’t need you to care him. He does just fine on his own. He just enjoys your company. He doesn’t bug you or get in your face. If left on his own, he’ll go find his own food.

This is the result of minorities being allowed to get low interest mortgage loans that are not financially able to pay the loans. The pit bulls keep the bill collectors away.

Weasels ripped my flesh..

As the owner of a rotty, I have to do a bit of sticking up for a “deadly breed”, and also be a voice of common sense.

First of all, whether we want to hear it or not, this is by and large the owners’ fault. If you read the article, there were signs that these dogs showed aggression towards the child way before this incident. Had the owners - the parents - taken action and found another home for those dogs, this may very well have not happened. If you do have an animal - any animal - that shows aggression and has potential to do actual physical damage, it's the responsibility of the humans to take charge and find a new home for that animal before something tragic like this happens. Having two obviously aggressive dogs in the same house with the source of their aggression is poor judgment all around.

Second of all, what's true for one is not true for all. The reason “bad breeds” get their title is because of these kinds of articles. My rotty would never make the news because she's sweet and wants nothing more than a cuddle and a pat on the head. Likewise, “bad breeds” will always be bad simply because they're not portrayed as anything BUT. Dogs are like people, it's about how they're raised. Raise a dog well and, like my rotty, it's the biggest teddy bear you'll ever find. Raise it inappropriately and it can turn sour.

Third of all, yes this is horrible and no I'm not saying it's not a big deal. In this case, the police did the right thing and killed the animals, but saying we need to wipe out an entire breed is just silly. If a tree limb crashes down and hits you on the head, you don't cut down all the trees in the nation. Pretty much every breed of dog has this potential for aggression. Little ones, big ones - tick them off and yes, they can do serious damage. It's about raising them right, understanding the nature of the beast, and not harboring them in a situation where that aggression might come into play.

There’s no good reason to own a pitbull. It’s all about the owners inadequacies....trying to show people how tough you are.

Hats off to Mary for attention to the following. Most of the serious maulings are done by pit bulls considered to be "family dogs."

Boy's arm amputated after family dog attacks

PAW PAW, Mich (WOOD) - A 10-year-old boy had his arm amputated Saturday after the family dog attacked him.

It happened in the 52000 block of Brachetto Drive in Paw Paw around 11 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies from Van Buren County say the child was left home alone for a short time.

His brother arrived home to find the family dog, a two-year-old a pit bull named 'Torco' attacking the child.

The boy was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Authorities say the child had several puncture wounds and sustained injuries so severe that his right arm had to be amputated.

Neighbors in the area tell 24 Hour News 8 that they saw emergency crews at the same home earlier this summer because of the dog attacking another person in the home.

"We actually confronted him about it because we were very concerned for our own children," said Dave Bos, who lives across the street from where the attack happened. "It breaks my heart to see that a young child like that...had to lose his arm as a result of it. It's very depressing," he said.

Another neighbor, Doug Resman, says he even tried contacting law enforcement about the dog.

"They just said you have to wait until something else happens," said Resman.

The neighbors say that the man injured in the earlier incident had to have stitches and that animal control was called but the family refused to get rid of the dog despite their concerns.

"They are animal lovers, they have more than one animal and they just wanted to keep him," said Bos, "He (the dog owner) is a very nice guy and he didn't mean for this to happen. Unfortunately it did and you cant take back the inaction that you didn't take before."

The boy's parents were in Indiana at the time of the attack.

They were notified and police say they made their way back to West Michigan Saturday afternoon.

The dog was put down after being taken to the Van Buren County Animal Control Shelter in Hartford.

No need to ban pit bulls, just pass a law that the owner is responsible for their dog’s actions as if they had committed the act with their own hands, or... teeth.

FRiends, here’s an old song about a man who was a little too unnaturally close to his “mangy mutt” that ran away.

I’ve heard enough about “pit bulls”. These monsters should wiped off the planet.

Pit Bulls are a breed that needs to go away.
I do not advocate euthanizing any of them just because they are pit bull, but there are plenty of other breeds that people could have.
A sane plan would be to require the spaying or neutering of 100% of the pit bull population. Anyone keeping a pit bull that has a litter of pupplies should be fined. In 5 years, any non-pit bull that has not been neutered or spayed should seized, fixed and then put up for adoption.
