Thank you for that transcript.
It’s a heck of a lot better than govt subsidies that are spent by a bureaucrat and never to be paid back.
corp taxes are also very high and cutting will help but that’s already part of the plan
To restore jobs to Michigan requires several actions:
1. Michigan cannot continue to be a jointly controlled subsidiary of the United Auto Worker’s Union and the Democrat Party.
2. It took a long time to get into the mess that the state is in and it’s going to take a long time to get out. But getting out starts with Item 1. As long as the UAW and the Democrat party is in charge, things are only going to get worse.
3. Michigan and the automobile industry could maintain supra-normal wages and foolish social policies so long as there was no real competition in the auto market. That’s not true now and hasn’t been for 30+ years. It’s time for everyone to recognize that and deal with it.
I lived in Michigan, went to school there and try to keep up with what’s going on politically.
Jack
Good point. Then we get to the good stuff. I’ve always advocated that productivity is what makes wealth. I have a few ideas about that, but won’t pontificate at this point. Let’s just say that No Child Left Behind is NOT my idea of the way to fix government schools. Yes, it helps parents by providing measurements. You don’t fix a fever by taking someones temperature however. What you need to do is cure the disease...
Amen.
I think precisely because MI is very close that they put an ad tailored to MI.
Agreed...we are at the point now where we need hard specifics to show what McCain WILL DO as president. More details more details.
You're absolutely correct, and the unions are the #1 reason that VW chose Tennessee over Michigan for their new plant. Michigan's lack of right-to-work is our biggest job killer but nobody here -- from the Governatrix on down -- is willing to admit it.
That’s profoundly correct on the right-to-work aspect.
I thought this ad was as empty as any of Obama’s suits. It say nothing but platitudes like in an Obama speech. All fat and no meat.
But of course McCain or anyone else can’t come out say down with unionization and protectionalism and let people just work.
There is such a thing as economic Darwinism, the problem is when gubmint keeps bailing losers out, it takes longer than it should.
Of course, but do they really think $ invested in Michigan gives them a better shot than $ invested in the other states I listed? Obviously so... I just disagree with that... we’ll see. Hopefully the other states are so well in hand that he need not spend any more there. Anyone know how heavily BHO is advertising in the other states? That could give me a clue as to how competitive they remain. If BHO has retreated from most of those states, the internal numbers must be much more depressing for BHO than the polls. I sincerely hope that is the case, I just doubt it is so.
I don’t disagree with you that they need to strengten their numbers in those states you mentioned. As BHO campaign, I remember reading last week that now everything is like the 2000 and 2004 elections again as far as the battle ground states goes.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
We are hopeful that a certain percentage of the rats wise up. Finally, we have a legitimate hope to deliver this state to the Rebubilcans.
Nice ad! McCain offers solutions while Barry complains.
