Yeah, for an almost real time message board the mirrors would need to be connnected with dedicated fiber which would place them on the same internet backbone and therefore still vulnerable to attack. Although it would be a vast improvement. Costly too though.

DOD is relocating all installations from indefensible positions to defensible positions.

We have had a huge influx of new ‘freepers’ in the last few months. Some of their agenda’s are questionable. Perhaps a freeze should be put on NEW sign-ups until after the election.

I can't think of a downside to that.

Perhaps so. I have just seen so many brand new people putting up threads immediately and there were many posters who thought the threads questionable.

You know as well as I do that there are new ones joining just to cause friction, and as another well known freeper put it, “they can be very smart about it”.

I don’t really believe brand new freepers are going to immediately start donating to FR either.

I have a Dell computer and fast cable connection and yet have had all kinds of trouble getting around here in the past month. Each freeper has 4 or 5 pages of ‘their own’, so the large influx of new people is going to put additional burden on the forum when it is already working slow and at the most important of times.

Just some of my thoughts Mary, but I don’t push it because I am a graphics poster and even though my graphics bandwidth comes from another paid site they take up space here.

As has been said a million times, one picture can say a thousand words.

I honestly would like to know what the ‘upside’ to it is, we already have all the ‘thoughts’ available here from thousands of intelligent people and new freepers could join after the election?

DOD, nationwide, is simply moving its offices and other facilities from sites with easy public access to sites without easy access ~ kind of like forts in the middle of a military reservation ~ a really old idea.

This effort includes "hardening" of supporting infrastructure in the surrounding area.

No "End Times" stuff about it. Father Abraham would have known how to use this technique.

I read JimRob right at all on the matter, he’d be very unlikely to do things that way.

I think he’s more inclined to put up with hazardous nooobeees as an unavoidable cost to allowing authentic Conservatives to the FR table.

We sort of need all the help from authentic conservatives we can get in this very critical election.

And, a lot of the mods are pretty sharp.

I think you’re probably right Quix. I will say that I have seen a lot more cuss words with the newer freepers recently!

I have a link to an old thread where a Moderator named Olive posted a thread saying cussers would be warned or banned. It hasn’t been happening!!

I’m not in the loop, really, in terms of the mods. I just make inferences from what I observe.

To some degree, when things are busy, they rely on us old timers to alert them when things get too far over the line.

Honor to whom honor is due.

It seems to me that likely a high percentage of the mods do a yeoman’s job of it for free . . . with lots of flack . . . and lots of competing voices, biases, prejudices, sensibilities, . . . a virtually guaranteed NO WIN situation for them. Yet they keep at it year in and year out.

My hat’s off to them.

There’s evidently one or two or maybe even a handful who either have lots of ‘bad-hair days’ or are generally erratic or disagreeable personalities on the whole. Thankfully, it appears that either Jim or the rest of the mods keep such characters in line MOST OF THE TIME. It’s amazing to me, how well such characters’ personal agendas, petty vendettas etc. are kept in check.

Moderating a large board like this can’t be easy in any stretch of the imagination.

I’m certainly not either. I just know how bad it is to go to a site like DU, so I hate to see outright swearing used here.
