Giving thorough answers will just get you in trouble in politics.

She did very well. Deflected some questions deftly and answered others with ease. I think she could have done better with the questioner that asked her about foreign policy experience, but it wasn’t a shocker of a moment or anything.
All in all, if McCain would nap in the plane while she does these meetings, I think they’d go even better.

She was a little weak on foreign policy, not that I think she needs to be secretary of state material, but I was hoping she could have been more forceful Exactly. They need to help her come up with a little better answer than 'Yes, I am ready.' Why doesn't she mention that many Governors have become President before her, and similarly didn't have a foreign policy background?

I wish she had said that she knows enough to keep her nose out of a sitting Presidents present negotiations in a foreign country. Oh yes! That would have been a kill shot right there.

Last week, that might have happened. They’re off their game this week. I think the bank collapses have thrown them for a bit of a loop.

Haaah! I disagree strenuously with McC on more than one thing- whereas I disagree with Obama on EVERYTHING.

Blah blah blah give me FREE health care! Most colleges have health centers for students. They can probably handle bronchitis.
McCain said that we have the best health care in the world, which is true. He then said that the problem is the cost and access. Cost is a problem, but not access. Our great access to health care is why Canadians come across the border to get their MRI's, etc.

I much prefer Palin's approach to Foreign Policy. Her approach is the opposite of the Dems. The Democrats want to surrender the battlefield to AlQeda, Russia, and Iran at every opportunity.
I hope her team is reading your comments, maybe they will give her some more coaching on her forcefulness.

Exactly. They need to help her come up with a little better answer than 'Yes, I am ready.' Why doesn't she mention that many Governors have become President before her, and similarly didn't have a foreign policy background? Jimmy Carter comes to mind, not a good example. President Bush had dealings with Mexico. She has dealings with Canada. She should mention that. But, yes, I wish they would coach her better on how to deal with that question because you KNOW it is going to be asked at every meeting and debate.
I'm hoping that they are deliberately setting Biden up by making it appear that she has very little knowledge.

What foreign policy experience did Bill Clinton have when he became President?
A few years at Oxford doesn’t really count.

To us it didn’t count, but to the rest of the world they fawned all over him. Didn’t he go to Russia, too?

The VP has only fairly recently played a bigger role in foreign policy. Traditionally the VP sits in on cabinet meetings, attended state funerals, filled in for the Pres. Foreign policies fell to Secretary of State. I wish someone would remind these questioners that the Secretary of State assists them.

I hope her team is reading your comments, maybe they will give her some more coaching on her forcefulness. I hope so too, we all know Freepers know everything. Seriously, I thought she did extremely well overall, and she and McCain had it coordinated quite well. The audience responded to her, and I suspect that's part of her talent. She really vitalizes McCain with her youth and enthusiasm and personality.

I don't see how that really qualified him to lead America's foreign policy. Plus he was so stupid as President that he picked Maddie Albright for SoS. That's bad foreign policy all by itself.

Albright! ack!
I just wsant Palin prepared, because this seems to be the biggest issue for so many people. Why is it that she is expected to have more experience than Obama? They don’t question him, but question her at every chance.

that’s because Governor Bush was weak on foreign policy and needed Cheney. Now we have the reverse. McCain has extensive foreign policy experience and needs a governor.
