John McCain’s campaign is running a Spanish language ad in battleground states that blames Barack Obama and Senate Democrats for the failure of attempts to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws.

This is the second phase of the news media attack on McCain.

They are now targeting the base.

I bet you see stories out the follow week from the newsmedia saying that McCain really didn’t want Palin, but Lieberman, or that Palin has a cousin sister-in-law’s son who is gay.

I think McCain is being proactive and taking away Obama’s biggest weapon.

I could have sworn I saw something here on FR that said that Bill Clinton told Obama to start talking about McCain and immigration in order to divide up the conservative base which would offset the Palin support and enthusiasm.

Does anyone else remember reading that?
