It will take at least 10 years to develop viable alternative energy sources, so why bother?
LOL! Truth is funny at times.
Oh but Obama the messiah is going to get us completely off that nasty old oil in ten years. He's going to invent cars that run on the wind that flows past them, airplanes that fly on hydrogen generated by the solar panels on their wings and he will leave the rest of the few hundred thousand uses of oil for other people to invent replacements for and make gazillions of dollars off of and give every man woman an child in the US a million dollars just to start with.
John F. Kennedy's Apollo speech as written by the modern Democratic party:
We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this week and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard... but if we cannot get there by Friday at noon, we will throw in the towel because it isn't worth our effort to plan further into the future.

If it isn’t ready tomorrow, it’s not worth doing.
Well said. I always point out to people who say, "but, but that will take 5,10, 15 years to do!" that the same 5,10,15 years will pass regardless of what we do,if we don't do it we will be in the same spot in 5,10 or 15 years, but if we do it we will gain at the end of that time. Liberals, and ever a lot of conservatives, do that in their daily lives.
One of the most frequent chants you hear is "I want to lose weight but it will take 2 years to get it all off, so I guess I won't diet!". Well either take that 2 years and diet or be that much fatter at the end of it.
Same with drilling and building pipe lines. Either take the time to start it now and finish 5,10 or 15 years from now or be in worse shape at the end of that time by doing nothing.
Okay - I try to educate myself but an internet search didn’t come up with an easy answer on where most of the large steel (I’m guessing they need to be steel) pipelines are made. Russia? (Pictures of soot-covered towns and factories). Saudi Arabia? (Lots of pipe needed there).

GASP!!! It won’t be done tommorow?!
The MSM is a loser and an embarresemnt to. American journalism has hit PRAVDA levels.
South Dakota! Who knew!?
Okay - South Korea I imagine. Thanks for the information. Better than North! (And better than China). There was an old article with regard to Palin and international dealings. Some South Korean official at the consulate in Alaska was saying how Gov. Palin is a bulldog (or perhaps it was bulldozer) politician on her ability to get things done - and he admired her in their trade dealings.
I think the point is that oil and gas are the stopgap until alternatives come on stream. Clearly, we need all of the above. When the pipe is ready, we can decide then whether to suck it all quickly or leave a little in the ground for future generations.
The longest journey starts with a single step - Mao Tse Tung.
Palin took that step, in effect.
According to TransCanada, the 2,148-mile Keystone Pipeline will transport crude oil from Alberta to U.S. Midwest markets in Illinois and Oklahoma. The Keystone pipeline will have an initial nominal capacity of 435,000 barrels per day in late 2009 and will be expanded to a nominal capacity of 590,000 barrels per day in late 2010. Alaska does a lot of trade with SK.
Folks underestimate Sara P at their own risk....
I seem to recall there is a big refinery in eastern Minnesota. I’m surprised we aren’t hearing complaints about this one - it won’t be complete for a WHOLE NOTHER YEAR!! I wonder if it can be tapped into when the Bakken Oil (North Dakota?) comes into play.
