Godspeed to all in Hurricane Ike's path.
bump
Headed straight for DFW, as a TS, but could be a bunch of tornadoes still associated with it.
Cubar really took a pounding to knock this thing down from Cat 3.
Thanks for the thread. We are in AR with parents in Magnolia, near Conroe, north of Houston. What is the prediticted effects in that area???? Trying to decide whether to evacuate them or not...thx
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from the mouth of the

Hurricane Ike is moving NW at 8 mph. Winds 100 mph, 958 mb.
Ike is a very large tropical cyclone. Hurricane force winds extend
outward up to 90 miles from the center and tropical storm force
winds extend outward up to 205 miles.
Prayers up for all in Ike's path.
Thanx for the ping NN.
Track trend is rightwards. It would be interesting to see where Rita was forecast to go at this point.
My shipments going to the Houston area have been cancelled for now. Everybody in the area is stocking up and evacuating. I hope that this doesn’t become another Galveston-like hurricane from 1900 or Hurricane Mitch.
Now he's going to pull his arms in like a spinning skater over slightly cooler water, spin faster and slowly pick up forward speed
Prayers up for those in his path
.
Anywhere north of Corpus looks bad for me - I’m on the southwest side of the greater Houston area -
Praying like crazy for all in the path of this storm for it to weaken somehow. Everyone stay safe!
Are you planning to evacuate?
Watching closely in Seabrook.
Frgds,
3/M
after being rather slow, pressure has dropped a lot in the past hour or so...
temperature between inner and outer eyewall has increased...
looks go for some strengthening here.
One of our glorious local TV stations here in Houston has in its crawler that Bell County has announced voluntary evacuation.
Ha! Bell County is in the center of the state.
It is Bee County, according to the Beeville news webpage, which is under voluntary evacuation.
Funny stuff. The TV station can’t get the name of the county right.
Thanks again.
