“I still will not donate to the Republican Congressional Committee, not until they swear off earmarks. “

I’m waiting for hell to freeze over as well.

There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.”

There was. Democrats created federal funding for slum housing, Obama became state senator and his friends became slum landlords. Check it out. Corruption all around them for getting funds and not maintaining the properties properly.

" ... Had he not been assassinated, Dr. King would have become a Republican icon."

Hogwash!

Civil rights aside, he would have been the same Commie sympathizer.

"You can't talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars. You can't talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. You're really tampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry… Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong… with capitalism… There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.”

--Martin Luther King in Frogmore, South Carolina, November 14, 1966.

No apology necessary. We're all on the same team.
