When I was 17, in Austin, in ‘84, Reagan came past the Saab/Pegeuot/Fiat dealership I worked at as a parts girl and
I INSISTED I’d be leaving for a few minutes.
I got a personal smile and wave from him.
I’m trying, but could not just leave today.
I guess I should never have asked and just called in, but I couldn’t do that. Wouldn’t have felt right.
I didnt get to go either. I had a job interview (unemployed for 9 months) and I’m really optomistic about the outcome. Whats really cool is I got to see the McCain/Palin plane on the runway at Mitchel Field. I also heard on the radio it was crazy in Cederburg. Police had to turn people away due to limited space. And everyone thought this was going to be a boring campaign.
