I wonder how that breaks down in how much was spent by both campaigns to produce these results . I would bet Obama out spent McCain.

You wouldn't find any takers. It's already known that he outspent the GOP vis-a-vis conventions. What did they get for all that money? A crippled candidate, in what sure looks to me like a losing election effort. Fiscal responsibility... NOT!!

Am I able to speak any critical words as to the polices of the BET, Telemundo and Univision without being considered a racist?

from the article, I infer that telemundo and univision treated both parties evenly. your criticism should be reserved for BET.

What is really great about this is that people tuned into the Republican convention to hear the candidates - BEFORE they knew what they were going to hear! They had no real knowledge of McCain's impressive background, and why he is the man he is. Nor, did they know what Sarah Palin would say and how fearlessly she would address the convention. The interest was broad among both parties...and it didn't take knowing there would be styrofoam columns standing alongside either candidate to hype the audience into watching.

The after-the-speech results are electrifying, but knowing that so many Americans really were concerned enough to stay tuned before the media hyped up the content of the speeches is amazing.

No, I didn't say that at all. What I was saying was that advertisers won't pay for advertising during a time slot where there aren't any viewers. If the number of viewers of BET during a showing of the Republican convention is extremely low, advertisers will not spend their money to run ads during that time slot.

So then you are saying that the advertisers are the racists, because they don't believe black viewers will watch republican's, but will watch democrats. They apparently believe that if you are black you must be democrat. Do I have that right?

No, you don't have it right, but you have demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that you don't understand the meaning of the word racist.

I would warrant that BET, being a for-profit organization that makes its money off advertising, has a pretty good understanding of what its viewers do and do not like to watch. Television ratings are inherently statistical. BET isn't saying that there are no black people that would like to watch the Republican convention, just that on average, viewers of BET will prefer other programming.

This makes total sense. Statistically, the vast majority of black people vote Democrat. Therefor, it is completely rational of them (and not in the slightest bit racist) to choose to air programming that will get higher viewership, and hence higher ad revenue, than the Republican convention. And at the end of the day, if a black person wants to watch the convention, they can tune in CNN, or MSNBC, or FNC, or CSPAN.

This will be my last post on this topic.
