If folks accept that they will have to battle McCain on immigration reform and climate change (which I am pretty much resigned to), yet wish to see the Supreme Court moved further right and our military supported to the hilt, a vote for McCain is so much better than staying home and running the risk of Obama ruling the nation from his temple.
Perhaps Sarah Palin can provide the spark a new reform movement needs .. or not. Time will tell.

That means the cap and trade trillion dollar scam. No matter how ridiculous, and how failed already in Europe, McCain/Obama will sell cap and trade as reasonable and a pliant liberal media will follow without question as long as the “conservative” bogeyman is posed as cap and trade’s opponents.
Maybe Palin can talk some sense into the Old Man about this issue and he’ll change his mind. At any rate, it’s not enough to prevent me from voting for the GOP ticket.
McCarthy was pro-abortion and a moderate and detested us far right wingers. I remember him telling me, in a bitter tone, "It's better to get half of something than all of nothing."
I have lightened up quite a bit and I am willing to compromise but I am not a sell-out. I think Kevin McCarthy is the perfect guy for this job.

Not the first plank of the party I have found repugnant. Probably it won’t be the last. However, better illustrated in this campaign, we have seen that there is a great difference between rhetoric and action.
We have seen where action in the name of “Global Warming” is taking us. The new California “Smart Growth” blueprint process integrates transportation, housing, land use and watershed planning with green building. It is the largest shift to socialism that this nation has experienced. Communities will be consolidated and grow on the vertical plane. All personal lifestyle choices will be over-run by requirements on city and county planning and zoning to reflect the new smart growth vision. I imagine only the rich will be able to live outside of planned communities.

The science is completely unsettled and, in fact, it is looking increasingly likely that the major warming and cooling trends are tied to sunspot activity.
FYI, the peak year for temps was 1998, and the Earth is actually cooling (well, the surface, anyway). We’ll be in for some cold weather around the end of the McCain Administration, which’ll be a perfect time for a President that knows about cold weather and snow removal, and who likes mooseburgers.

I've been listening to that BS from the Republican hierarchy since 1970 and I'm sick of it.
Why is it that McCain has such an ability to tick the base off? It was his choice of Palin as VP that brought me to a point that I can hold my nose and vote for them as a team.
And then he starts with the crap again. Before November rolls around, I am afraid McCain is going to remind me so many times why I cannot stand him and don’t want him as POTUS that I might swing back to a 3rd party or write-in. I am so completely frustrated....
Although McCain is far from being an ideal Republican candidate, we, as Republicans and conservatives must voe for him. If we don’t, it is one less vote against the exponentially worse candidate, Barack Obama.
Every time I waver in my determination to not vote for McCain, he confirms my decision....
I am SO SICK and TIRED of the lame argument that we MUST vote for McCain because the alternative is SOO much worse. While I won’t argue with Obama being one of the most evil and vile candidates this country has ever seen for POTUS (and possibly any other office), I am sick of supporting the GOP and their own version of “the chosen one”.
I am sick of voting for the “lesser evil”. I am ready to cast a vote for someone who is the “best” for the job.
The choice of Palin made me willing to hold my nose and vote for the McCain ticket. And then this.
So - will you still be pushing this “must vote for McCain” junk when he starts pushing ShAmnesty again? Or how about when he capitulates to the Demos on judicial appointees?

Yeah, there are. Probably 150 million people are Constitutionally eligible to be the POTUS, and you can vote for any one of them you'd like - with all of the effect of pissing into a Cat 5 hurricane.
Simple fact: no one other than a Republican or Democrat has been elected President since the 1850's. Not even Teddy Roosevelt, the enormously popular former President, could break the stranglehold of the major parties in 1912. All he did, and all ANYONE ever did by running as a third party candidate, was to throw the election to the person on the other side of the ideological fence by helping to split the votes of like-minded people.
I know the old argument (because I succumbed to it in 1992): "Teach the Republicans a lesson." Right - that's worked out so well before. Damn sure, we all taught Bush 41 a lesson. That's right, that hick governor and his bitch wife will NEVER be re-elected in '96, no how, no way.
Letting Obambi get into the White House will severely damage this country. He'll appoint at least 2, and probably more, Justices, along with several hundred District and Circuit court judges. He'll run our foreign policy, defense policy and set the agenda for energy and taxes. He'll try to ban guns, and to sue or intimidate all opposition into silence. No thanks, I'm voting to stop the (VASTLY) greater evil. I know, I know, little evil is still "evil" - but it offers some possibility of having a sane and strong defense and foreign policy, a chance that our economy won't be wrecked. McCain, for all of his faults (and they are legion) is and always will be a true patriot, and understands that lower taxes and less regulation makes for a healthier economy. Plus, having Palin as Veep for 4 or 8 years will make it far more likely that a real conservative will be the front-runner then.
You vote your conscience in the primaries. You vote for the lesser of two evils in the General.
