I’ve always held Bolton in high regard and this piece just raised him up a notch. I hope McCain will share Bolton’s views here.

I’m as guilty as the next guy, but why wasn’t there an outcry against the deal —or was I asleep?

There was some skepticism.. but there wasn’t enough of an outcry.

And who says the VP’s office is worthless.
Mr. Cheney has proven them all wrong.

This EXACT same thing happened to Clinton.
The North Koreans went back on their word.

N. Korea, Angry Over Terror List, Threatens to Rebuild Nuclear Program
TOKYO, Aug. 26 -- Angry that the United States has not removed it from a list of states that sponsor terrorism, North Korea said Tuesday that it has stopped disabling its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon and will consider rebuilding it.

North Korea has long since become a dangerously unstable regime, not just to the US, but to China as well. A while back, it was suggested that a “China plan” could have huge benefits all around.
That is, in prearrangement with the US, China performs a quick removal of the North Korean leadership and securing of the nuclear infrastructure, and replaces them with a puppet regime with only a single prerogative: reunification with South Korea.
In exchange, the US removes its forces to Pusan, which remains as a naval base.
China benefits enormously in all sorts of ways. First by losing the troublesome NK leadership. Second, because the flow of NK illegal aliens would not just stop, but reverse. Third, by having a unified Korea as its best ally in the world, and overnight a huge trading partner worth billions annually.
Since Korea culturally does things “the Chinese way”, it is tolerable to have on the border with China. And unified Korea would be very quiet for a long time while rebuilding the North, not wanting to be any trouble at all.
The US would be off China’s doorstep, and might leave Korea entirely after a short time, having no other pressing military business there. It would definitely improve the odds of a pleasant Taiwan reunification as well.

We must listen to Bolton and reapply ALL the previous sanctions and find a few more toucher ones just to drive the point home. Screw China and screw Russia, these bastards need to be squeezes harder than ever until the “chia pet” who runs the dump called N. Korea, screams! Remember, winter is coming and winters are never kind to N. Korea! Time is not on N. Korea's side!

However, soon he and Lynn can go back to Wyoming. I wish I could. :)

Obama’s solution to this issue would be the Clinton/Albright formula—we give the North Koreans food, oil and money if they agree to conceal their WMD programs until Obama is out of office.
