Let’s face it, Obama will have his pick of good conservatives bashing McCain to run on the air.

Heck, it’s still going on to this very minute.

McCain will go with Ridge or Lieberman instead then.
You’ll be thrilled with them, of course.

What votes are lost by people who hate Romney are mostly in states McCain wins by 10%. The votes gained are in states where McCain trails or leads by 1%, like Nevada, or Colorado or even Montana. And Michigan enters the fray, too.

I don’t understand why this is hard to understand. It’s not about red meat votes. A red meat conservative makes red state people press the touch screen harder. It doesn’t increase presses in moderate states. The red states are already won. It’s now about moderate votes, who need further persuading.

What exactly is the theory here? The religious haters who hate Romney’s Mormonism (and I’m not Mormon, btw) will then somehow love Cantor’s Jewishness?

Absurd. Romney is the best choice because he brings marginal state EV potential to the table. No one else does.

The last time a VP candidate carried a state for his ticket was in 1968, when Muskie helped the Dems carry Maine. They still lost. The last time a VP candidate brought in a state that mattered was in 1960, when LBJ brought in Texas for the Dems.

Romney won’t help a bit in Michigan. George W. Bush was born in Connecticut but he lost it in both of his elections. Prescott Bush was a Senator from Connecticut, but Bush still lost the state. Romney’s dad was governor of Michigan over 40 years ago. Few people remember it or care about that fact today. Not to mention that Romney’s dad was a flaming liberal.

What's so difficult to understand that high negatives and violating rule #1 Do NO Harm is more important than what states you may bring to the table when it comes to nominating VP's????? If states and EV were more important in a VP pick rule #1 would be different now wouldn't it?

McCain reads these boards, he reads the pundits and he knows Romney brings in a bunch of high negatives with him. Why would he risk this for a man he personally dislikes??? THAT is what makes no sense.

However, if McCain picks Romney I will still vote McCain as Obama is truly terrifying but I think it would be a horrendous mistake and we could very well be saying President Obama in January.

But if I were to call this thing I'd say its going to be Cantor. Cantor brings all of the positives and none of the baggage.

To WOSG: No, I personally dislike anyone who is pro-choice; including Romney's pro-choice position in the past. However, Lieberman has a better shot than Romney - McCain at least LIKES Lieberman.

“Lieberman has a better shot than Romney”

Better shot at destroying the gradually building enthusiasm for McCain as President? Yup.
Better shot at giving the election to Obama? Yup.

Other than that, no shot. Listen to yourself - do no harm. Lieberman as VP pick does massive harm.

Romney gets MDS sufferers in a lather, but is otherwise a positive.

“McCain reads these boards” ROFLMAO. No, he doesnt.

I agree with you 100%. Yup, Yup, and Yup. Which goes to show how little shot Romney has with McCain. Psst - YOU were the one insinuating Lieberman, not me. All I said was Lieberman stood a better shot than Romney because Lieberman is at least LIKEABLE which still doesn't say he would not also be a disaster.

Romney gets MDS sufferers in a lather, but is otherwise a positive.

LOL, keep telling yourself that hon :) Those links I posted above, only one referred to any MDS sufferers. Maybe you should join the Obama camp. They are the ones who love to play that "If you don't support me you must be racist crap". Kind of like: "If you don't like Romney you must be a bigot crap." Doesn't play well in either party and you are quite good at it.

"McCain reads these boards" ROFLMAO. No, he doesn't."

What? You are now living with McCain? You think he doesn't get reports from those on his campaign who read all kinds of things? Please show just a little intelligence, you're starting to look like Obama.

Scarburough just said he an Minka have been personally told by high ups in the McCain camp that the choice for McCain’s VP is going to be a “don’t need you” choice AGAINST christian conservatives.

McCain, per scarburough, was very serious about lieberman.

If this proves out true than McCain is telling conservatives a message to stay home you are not wanted and will get nothing out of him.

Per MSNBC and CNN this am, Obama is using his Greek Tragedy Rally to solidify colorado.

Obama thinks if he can block Colorado from McCain he can win this.

Obama must think he has Ohio and Michigan.

Obama is going to fill up the FREE stadium even. (homeless must go somewhere) Those are going to be his voters.

McCain needs to lose the “hate christain conservatives” attitude and pick the VP that brings battleground states into play.
