You got that right. The media is all over stupid crap but silent when it comes to important stuff. I just wonder if they are being deliberately kept out of things in order for the FCC to fix the situation with as little panic as possible.
Happy 40th Birthday! I’m afraid it sounds like Atlanta was the first hit and this, coupled with torrential rainfall there, has exacerbated the problem. What a nightmare. And the news has completely been dropped at CNN, so I don’t know what to say. Are you getting any info from the crew? Are you at least in line for departure or are you sitting at the gate?
I’m in Minneapolis, and just drove home through rush hour. In the hour and a half I was on the road, i didn’t see a single plane in the sky- very unusual. My route is a few miles west of MSP International, so i’m used to seeing the sky full of inbound/outbound flights.
What’s up?
I wouldn’t be surprised.
Over on LGF a controller coming off shift posted that they were able to enter flight plans from the airport towers. Takes longer to do so, because the flight waypoints all have to be specified by keyboarding.
Great site. Thanks for the link.
Thanks for the ping.
Who hacked it?
Interesting that the small planes are still flying.
This computer glitch problem happens a lot in California.
So what happened?
Did you make it to ATL? My brother ended up leaving the gate only to have the cabin fill up with smoke! Didn’t make it home, needless to say.
Sorry to hear about your brother not getting out. Hopefully today is a better day.
My wife met me at the ATL airport so I at least got to spend some time with her on my birthday. The kids were fast asleep when we got home so we will celebrate tonight!
Thanks for the updates yesterday!
Glad to hear you made it home on your birthday. And it sounds like you took it all in stride.
