2006 should have been the wake up call to anyone that considers themselves a conservative sitting out an election.

No, it should have been a wake up call for the republican party to stop saddling us with lame duck liberal republicans. I, for one, will not vote for McCain who offers almost nothing for a conservative.

Anyone that would allow a flaming liberal creep like Obama to run our country for the next four years by inaction is no conservative. A true conservative could not be that foolish.

You need to man up and accept that you have a choice between McCain or Obama. Now pick the one that causes the least harm.

Can you demonstrate how I am allowing a flaming liberal to run the country? I'm sorry that you cant. You know, these "true conservative" and even better "a 3rd party vote is a vote for Osama" arguments are really just stupid Jedi mind tricks and have no sway over those with brains.

I'm goin to man up and vote for Paris Hilton, She wont cause any harm and the press conferences are likey to include boobs - small ones, but boobs nonetheless.

What is the alternative? Not vote?

My Senator in Oregon, Gordon Smith, is the last republican senator left on the left coast. The dems are targeting him big time. I do not intend to vote for him, because right after the surge last year or so, he came out against the war. Made a big press announcement about it, it was all over the press, the libs talked it up.

His campaign called me within months of that betrayal and I told them to pound sand. I told them this was the single most important issue of the day for R's to stick together and watch the surge work and Smith whimped out, to get elected. His stance against the war was all about re-election. I am not going to vote for that sleaze ball, he is going down!!!

Political reality is that "conservatives" not voting or voting third party enables the Democrats to run this nation. No Jedi mind tricks at all....just cold, hard reality.

To be replaced by an even worse Dem sleaze ball? What the heck kind of "conservative" would stand a snowball's chance in hell in Oregon anyway?.

That's Oregon's fault, not a Republican's trying to get elected in Oregon.

A libertarian mindset is growing in America. The libertarians--led by the sickening Neal Boortz--advocated 'punishing the nation by not voting in 2006.

Boortz spent time on his daily nationally syndicated radio show pushing that action by inaction. Had the disgusting Boortz been sincere, not merely manipulating for his own ego, he would have continued his campaign to emphasize the punishment factor and what to do to change the inaction. Instead, Boortz focused entirely on the fair tax--which is a good idea but not nearly as crucial as the inaction resutls we now endure from 2006. Boortz doesn't give a hoot that his campaign has other effects outside of his pet issue of tax reform. He imagines that things can't get so bad that an election cycle can't fix it. To a real degree, he is indulging in magic thinking.

Libertarians are not the same type conservative as traditional conservatives. Libertarians motivated by selfishness noit Judeo-Christian values, and abortion is a 'rite' the selfish want as an option to maintain their lifestyles, libertarians included.

Some blame for the molasses-in-January slog we see in the nation on issues of LIFE is due to no small degree to Republican reliance on these life issues as wedge issues which the pubbies would lose if they fixed the wrongs.

Sadly, even supposed Mormon conservatives like Orrin Hatch support the exploitation of embryos for body parts (stem cells are the body parts of embryo-aged humans), because Hatch doesn't believe an embryo is a human until it is implanted in a uterus. That sort of absurdity is a hallmark of the republican vagueness we've endured for years now, in the face of growing disenfranchisement for the alive unborn even to the earliest age of embryo.

As far as I'm concerned, those who say you must vote for McCain because he's marginally better than Obama can just piss off. I'm done voting for evil.

I'm goin to man up and vote for Paris Hilton, She wont cause any harm and the press conferences are likey to include boobs - small ones, but boobs nonetheless.

Not a bad idea. The press conferences would at least be interesting.

Yea, cold hard reality sucks doesn't it. Chew on this cold hard reality - McCain is MARGINALLY better than osama and when McCain saddles us with ever more liberalism, you can be proud that YOU actually did cause it by voting for him - and then you'll immediately come see us in 4 years begging us for the same trash because it's "better than".

Well, no it's not and I will not lap at the boots of repblicans because they throw out a candidate that MARGINALLY maybe sometimes possibly if the wind blows the right way agrees with my positions. I will vote for what I believe in (boobies) not for what I dont believe in (liberalism).

That is utter nonsense. McCain is pro life and pro military. That instantly makes him a far better choice than Obama. The fact that Obama hasn't got any experience doing anything is a definite plus for McCain too.Obambi's ties to commies, pinkos, terrorists, america haters, white haters and the like make him unacceptable in my book, and hopefully in anyone's. The differences between McCain and Obama politics is stark

Like I said, you have a choice between McCain and Obama, not some pie in the sky conservative. That is the way our democratic republic works. If you don't vote for McCain, you are responsible for putting Obama in office.

Conservatives had an opportunity to nominate someone more conservative, and couldn't do it. Better luck next time.

Ahh, there is the rub. The poll he mentions doesn’t say voters, I believe it says Americans. The fact is only a small percent of Americans vote, this factor keeps the liberal element of voters high compared to conservatives. conservatives are typically people(unfortunately)who think things will go along just swell without their vote, or without becoming active in anything. Liberals and communist on the other hand typically swarm everywhere trying to change the government into a socialist he** hole. That is why 48 percent of the voters voted for Kerry, because the conservatives that should have been registered and should have voted weren’t and didn’t.

And you’ll still be responsible for implementing McCain’s liberal agenda. Come and see us in 4 years and tell me what that stain across your chin is.

How very revealing of your juvenile persona. But then what would adults at FR expect from one who asserts that he’ll vote for boobies and makes insulting obscene references to chins. You are the face of Libertarians, Bob ‘ACLU’ Barr types who insist that you can and will punish the nation for rejecting your degenerate sexual proclivities and lack of moral values. Your depth of political analysis is stunningly immature ... AND You’re proud of that! Bwahahahaha ... please, continue the entertainment! You’re making such an impression!

In four years I’ll tell you we were far better off without Obama, just as we are far better off without Al Gore or John Kerry, regardless of which way politics turn.

Part of being conservative means loving your nation and doing what is right for IT, not necessarily what’s right for you or your cause.

If you love this nation more than your “conservatism”, the choice is clear.

Wrong again....I can’t stand John McCain, and worse than that, I’ve got to vote for Lindsey Graham.

Maybe if more “conservatives” like you could have seen farther than the end of your nose, things might have been different. Three years of tearing the Republican Party apart over who is conservative enough has put the Dems in the driver’s seat and gave McCain the opening he needed.

Thanks a lot.
