So - who authorized the BATF to make this change of definition?
Is this something that the administration is directing or is this the action of the Director of the BATF?
We need to know so we can respond appropriately.

A gunsmith buys surplus military rifles, bends the bolts to accept a scope, and then drills the receivers for a scope base. The gunsmith offers these firearms for sale. This would be considered the manufacturing of firearms, and the gunsmith should be licensed as a manufacturer. What a lie! Altering an old military firearm with scope mounts and then reselling it is called "manufacture?" Ridiculous!

I guess I am a "manufacturer".
Maybe we all should be.

Do not bet on it. They may very well try.

Then the ATF should be redefined as UJBT, unAmerican jack booted tyrants or thugs. If the shoe fits.

Who woulda thunk.
I manufactured a truck when I put a 350 Corvette engine in my 54 Ford truck.

As a manufacturing corporation you don’t have to pay taxes.

They want to harass gunsmiths and collect more tax. How could anybody work for them?
To: moehoward
I manufactured a computer when I installed some new RAM.

Modifying a firearm which already has a serial number on it is NOT manufacturing a firearm. There is something so seriously wrong with the thinking at the BATFE that I shudder to imagine the future they are intending.

Hell, they’d claim you manufactured a truck if you put a St. Christopher medal in it!

No, putting night sights on your own Glock then later selling it would not make you a manufacturer. But if you regularly buy Glocks, put night sights on them and then resell them, you apparently are a manufacturer.
