Berean is right on with his post. The Russian could overwhelm that BMD with little effort with 4-5 MIRVs.

It is really a system to prevent a rogue country like Iran from launch or perhaps even an accidental launching. Beyond that the radar system would give early alerts that would benefit all of Europe.

Can we put it past the Russians to instigate an Iranian launch? Who knows? Just speculation but the do enjoy their proxy wars. Not probable but who is to say that Putin won’t be out empired by another follower.

They Russians claim that the BMD is the big deal, but the mutual defense agreement which basically gaurantees 2 things:

1. A Russian attack on Poland is an attack on the US, this is beyond NATOs ability to act swiftly.

2. Poland will vie with the British in the future as one of our best allies, surpassing Old Leftist Europe, and will be with us for the next 50 years fighting the WOT.

This is what is truely in the craw of the Russians now. They thought they out maneuvered us but they miscalculated in a big way. That Polish move will have people grumbling to contest Medvedev in Russia, something Putin will not be happy about.

If the sequence were to begin with a serious financial crisis in America....Russia would not be immune.......I don't think I'd want to be living in a country with a third world infrastructure, a massive armaments budget, neighbors who fear and hate it, and an economy dependent on oil and gas as the prices of these commodities collapse because of shrinking demand in the West. And that goes ditto for the ChiComs.
