I didn’t get that at all. He was smirking the entire time even when discussing China’s human rights abuses (and making excuses for them).

Smirking? Just what facial expressions would've satisfied you?

Perhaps the President's plan was to not dive too deeply into the politics surrounding China, and focus more on the sports?

BTW, you sound more "purple" than "red."

Like him or not, President Bush is a real guy- what you see is what you get.

President Bush was in China supporting our fine American athletes and obviously he was enjoying every minute of it.
I’m glad it was not turned into a political issue on China’s human rights. This is the athletes moment! They worked hard to get there.

I agree about the pundits and the interview. I, of course, do not know President Bush personally, but I was certain that the main reason he was determined to go to the Olympics was to show the athletes how proud he and our country are of them. He can also do some networking with other national leaders, but his main goal obviously was to interact with and support the athletes. He looks as if he is having a ball in the stands waving his flag and cheering for the Americans.

IMO, one of the worst decisions Jimmy Carter ever made was to prevent the US athletes from attending the 1980 Olympics. He destroyed the hopes and dreams of athletes who had been working and training for a goal that was stolen from them just to make a political point. For some, that would be their only opportunity to participate in an Olympics.

I may be wrong, but I think his presence in Beijing will be a stark contrast to Obamas European Tour. The genuine love President Bush has for our country and his fellow man is so apparent, just as Obama's disdain for America and its values were obvious as the media breathlessly followed him around the world.

Bob Costas (and his dyed hair job) was rude in his interview of President Bush. What the hell was Costas doing? This was set up by the radical NBC lefties. GWB did a good job in the interview, NBC sould be sold off from GE and left to die.

What happened to the President’s right elbow? Did he fall off a bike?

I was wondering the same thing.
That looks quite recent.

Well, the idiots at DU are insinuating that these pictures "prove" that Bush was drunk. But Obummer's admitted cocaine use doesn't seem to phase them.

How very cool he was so accessible to the athletes! I bet all of the olympians were duly impressed he was really into the events. He really was enjoying himself. Costas asked like 2 questions about the olympics and the rest were political and when Costas asked Bush if he was going to any more venues Bush was great! He says yes if you’ll let me get out of here! Ha! I’m going to miss Pres. Bush- he is one in a million!

Re: BTW, you sound more “purple” than “red.”

Sorry, but I don’t heap praise on the President for everything he does. Sorry to hear you lack the critical thinking and judgement to come to your own decisions.

Smirking talking about China’s human rights abuses is not okay.

Ignoring 2 border patrol agents rotting in jail is not okay.

But according to your logic, criticizing him is no acceptable.

Pathetic.
