“Do you think the average russian grunt has any enthusiasm at all for the task?”
Have you seen the photograph’s?
Why isn’t the left screaming because Putin sent in his troops without BODY ARMOUR!?
I sincerely hope that they haven't rid themselves completely, expecting that we would come to their aid.
I don't have a problem with helping them, but we're spread a little thin at the moment. I've feared that someone would move on our allies thinking us preoccupied.
“As usual, Russia is the aggressor, the invader, the imperialist cause of war. The USSR may be dead, but Putin is doing the same thing Hitler did, invading. It appears that Putin has already killed 1,500 civilians. Will the world just sit and watch?”
We watched in 56. I think we also watched in 68?
Ukraine Military Guide

I would assume that after Russia started boycotting Georgian goods a few years ago, that probably included ammunition for Russian made weapons. So is it surprising that they turned to Ukraine, which has one of the largest Soviet Ammo Depot outside of Russia?
I’m not so sure.. the West loves to see someone asking for peace(well Europe anyways and the left here) but I think this more or less saying “Look the Russians are still fighting us and we called for a cease fire... ethnic cleansing? We were just moving into land that is ours. Russians attacked first and are keeping it up.
This gives the West all they need to take action.. the only question is are we bold enough to do it.
Open another front? During an election year?
I'd guess not.
For your perusal—
Putin wants to get his KGB mitts on the oil pipeline that runs thru Georgia to Turkey....
I do hope that this can be stopped before it spirals into a regional war.
I wonder if Georgia decided to keep one or two.
Republic of the Georgia is about the size of Missouri with the population of Alabama and the density of Michigan.
Wow. I wish our leaders had this sort of guts.
Average Russians long for past glory. They think they are entitled to everything they once controlled.
GOOD!!! I hope this ends up overturning Pooty and Pooty's puppet. So far at least, I haven't seen anything like this in the Fifth Column, er uh Fourth Estate in USA. (To be fair, I haven't looked except here because they're usually FOC.) It's not unusual for us to have get actual news from over seas.
The Russians are trying to take back the Soviet Empire. The exercise in Georgia is designed to kick sand in our face and discredit us with Eastern Europeans and threaten the Baltic States and Ukraine.
If we don’t tough clear to them and draw a line in the sand, they will recreate their slave state empire.
Putin is another Stain.
Kevin Rudd reveals Bush-Putin argument at Opening Ceremony
Luke McIlVeen | August 10, 2008 08:10am
PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd witnessed a heated discussion between US President George W. Bush and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over Russia’s invasion of a tiny neighbouring country as athletes paraded before them in the Opening Ceremony on Friday night.
Mr Rudd revealed in an interview with Beijing Now in Beijing on Saturday that he was sitting just two rows behind Mr Bush when an “animated” discussion between he and Mr Putin broke out over Russia’s advance into South Ossetia, a breakaway region in neighbouring Georgia.
“The President and Mr Putin were in animated conversation two seats in front of us and I imagine they had a few things on their agenda,” Mr Rudd said.
Mr Rudd said that Mr Bush appeared to be making a strong point to the Russian Prime Minister, even as the world’s elite athletes filed into Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium.
