We're not talking about oil-drilling bits. We're talking about the cheap ones you'd find at your home improvement store. i.e.
30 Piece HSS Mini Drill Set
$1.99 at Harbor Freight Tools (click image)
OK, fine, they're made in China but they're made with your old Buick. It's they symbolism.

Thank you for that very clear explanation.

Go ahead and oppose me on drilling While they are at it, I double dare them to find a majority leader who isn't a dingbat.

Good point. I'm just scratching my head because the author of this article seems to be intelligent. They were able to analyze facts and present an interesting argument. However, they seem unable to understand that a growing global demand must be met with growing supply. This idea seems almost incomprehensible to most liberals.

In fact, "use-it-or-lose-it" actually reinforces the G.O.P.'s message, since it encourages voters to view gas prices as an issue of supply, and not demand.
OUCH! This statement just make my brain hurt. Why do these people have such a hard time understanding the supply side of economics?
Not just "supply side economics". They don't understand economics, period.
"Demand" is conceptually difficult for liberals to understand. They are committed to creating a planned economy, where they unilaterally determine supply. As consumers, we're supposed to accept whatever level that might be. Our "demand" has no place in the equation -- it has been superseded by their command decision regarding supply.
And, right now, so far as energy is concerned, their command decision is "less of the above" -- irrespective of demand.
Truly, they are revealing their Marxist roots on this issue.

"Use-it-or-lose-it" strips Democrats of any moral high ground they would otherwise have in attacking "Drill now!" The Democrats wouldn't recognize a moral high ground if someone draped neon lights on the crosses of Golgotha.

Try read Krugman’s books on Economics. Sounds really smart, as if he knows what he’s talking about... and he does, but the conclusions he reaches are ideological and have nothing to do with Economics.
Same thing with the Democrats in the Legislature. They know economics, but they believe ideology trumps the laws of supply and demand.

I realllllly like idiots like this that know NOT ONE D@MN THING about drilling keep saying this is going to take a decade or more. Some oil developments could be supplying the refineries in two years. A major offshore deep water development project averages between six to eight years.
Even the threat of more domestic supply is going to be the market way down...

Oh! What would be the point of that? You can’t drill for oil with a cheap Chinese made bit. I guess they wouldn’t know the difference tho, would they? Stupid people we have elected, aren’t they?
