I fundamentally disagree. Government is not broken. It is in its nature to foul up everything it touches. “Reforming” it is a waste of energy. It needs to be largely dismantled.

This is hardly for us conservatives... “Big oil”... yikes.
But it is a frontal attack on the new Obama ad that portrays McCain being in the tank of “Big Oil” and “corporate interests”. If it takes the wind off Obama’s mint new sails it does it’s work.

“Washington is Broken...”

A theme trumpeted by Romney during his campaign. Is there some parallelism here? A “hidden” hint?

Some things make me smile, and some things fry my brain.

This is one of those things that fries my brain.

It’s a good ad. It’ll play well to some.

None of those things: tobacco, oil, drugs, wall street... yadda yadda, are actually “broken” of course. And for whatever problems there are, the Oval Office isn’t going to be the answer. But that’s what campaigns do.

It’s a good ad for the mushy middle, but also a reminder, to me a conservative, why I didn’t support McCain in the primary.

Still, I would crawl over broken glass to vote against Obama.

Smart ad. Establishes his character while other ads ridicule Obama's. Gives no specifics, but gives lip service to middle class gripes (drugs, big oil), so as to mute Democrat talking points.

McCain's campaign continues to impress. Being offended by the ad's "take on Big Oil..." etc misses the point. We must win. This is the way to do it.

Don't like the ad at all. What's “big oil”? It was announced that Oprah earns $365 million per year. What about “big Oprah”? How about a windfall tax on Oprah?

I hate when politicians seek to demonize fine American companies with fine American citizen employees! Is “big oil” doing something illegal?? NO, they are providing a service. Quit slandering “big oil”.

The less said about this, the better?

Big Oil? Exxon-Mobil is now a midget compared to the Muslim and Communist state-owned oil companies. We’ll be lucky if they aren’t shut out of foreign oil reserves completely by our enemy competition. If our American oil companies are destroyed, who will we turn to for our oil supplies? Caesar Chavez? Putin?

Big drugs? Annoying as they are, they are just about the only innovative medical entrepreneurs left. They are already being exploited by the socialist health services in Canada and around the world. Cut them off at the knees and who will do the research? The British National Health Service and its third-world doctors?

Lobbyists? McCaine-Feingold has ended free speech at election time while doing absolutely NOTHING to end the dirty money. NOTHING.

Shut up, McCain.

Well it was a pretty crappy ad. Battling tobacco and “big oil” is supposed to make me want to vote for him? I will vote for him but this ad sucks and shows his liberal side. I think he should stick to showing Obamaosama’s negative side and quit trying to pump himself up.

McCain's Championing Of Anti-Smoking Legislation "Faced Furious Opposition From The Tobacco Lobby."

"In 1998, McCain championed anti-smoking legislation that faced furious opposition from the tobacco lobby. McCain guided the legislation through the Senate Commerce Committee on a 19-1 vote, but then the tobacco companies struck back. They hired 200 lobbyists and spent $40 million in advertising (three times as much as the Harry and Louise health care reform ads). Many of the ads attacked McCain by name, accusing him of becoming a big government liberal...

Sounds like the shoe fits to me.
