Why punish our athletes? A boycott would do just that.

We should boycott imo. Why give a PR and financial boon to an absolutely horrible government like the Chicoms? It should be held in the west from now on.

So is the United States. What’s your point?

In our house, there will be no Olympic games on TV, or even streaming on the computer. We hate NBC’s coverage and we distrust China.

Right now I have about as much interest in watching the Olympics as I have in getting a root canal done.
Since they turned the Olympics into a commercial enterprise for professional athletes, I have lost all interest.
I don't need to boycott anything. I'll be watching reruns of The Rockford Files.

Why are you posting this in the News/Activism forum of all places? This is not the place to post this.

Sorry, thats not on the US agenda.
We can't offend the Chinese. We have to trade with the communist hell whole of a country and not criticize their regime even though China is responsible for killing more Americans citizens post WW2, than any other country. Either coming over the hills in Korea, or aiding, abetting and supplying the NVA.

You are right about China, but we should also find a way to support our athletes competing against China and other countries. You would be much better served if you boycott Chinese products and buy American.

I agree. Why punish the athletes? If these people don’t want to watch on TV or the internet that is there business. The can just keep their fat butts on the sofa and watch reruns of Happy Days.
I am so sick of everyone trying to get in everyone’s face about an event that is supposed to be a day when the world comes together, despite its diffences, puts those differences aside (tries) to enjoy peace for a couple of weeks.

I will not be watching the ChiCom Olympic Games. I feel a bit sorry for our athletes as they do deserve support, but they do have other reputable avenues to demonstrate their excellence, and it is not like the Olympics have been anything other than a corrupt drugged-out commercialized abhorrent mess for a very long time now. Having it run by ChiComs only makes it worse.
Boycott it is.

The idea may have had merit 5 or 6 years ago, before thousands of people invested in these games.
Maybe we could have vetoed the selection of China when they received the games way back then.
But now, it would be pointless and punitive to our own people. Nothing that you said about Red China was any less true 6 years ago.

Is it “boycotting” if we don’t have cable or broadcast TV reception, and anyway we’d rather watch “Stargate” on DVD? My husband has been contributing to the U.S. Olympic Teams fundraisers; they keep sending him address labels.

China is a repressive, corrupt, un-godly, heinous regime. Our athletes are forced to compete in their foul air, under the watchful eye of big brother All true, for most modern Olympic Games Sites! How about two out of three?

I agree, I have no interest what so ever. Professional athletes, chi coms, smog and the one world order bs, doesn't do anything for me.

You would be much better served if you boycott Chinese products and buy American. What, and give up Walmart? Fat chance of that happening.
