No I’m not being short-sighted I’m thinking ahead.

Refugees are no benefit to us tax-paying, law-abiding citizens.

12,000 people - please!

Did anyone take in members of the Continental Army in as refugees? After Washington fought for Freedom did he get to seek asylum in Sweden? NO.

Given that the great majority of American servicemen and women currently serving in Iraq are tax-paying, law-abiding citizens, you'd be wrong. Endangering Iraqi allies is precisely what will put them in increased danger. The US is smart to realize that it needs to reward and protect its friends, particularly those foreigners who have risked their lives to serve the United States.

Your Washington analogy is just bizarre. I don't recall Washington ever putting his life on the line to protect Sweden.

I doubt all 12,000 people are/were aids to our troops.

Even still, why should we reward them with US citizenship when we just purchased their freedom with blood of our troops and billions in tax payer dollars?!

Sorry, but that’s just misplaced compassion, altruism with no ROI. Their reward is a free and democratic Iraq not the US welfare teat.

Not just the troops. Also, the CIA, State Department, and other US entities.

Even still, why should we reward them with US citizenship when we just purchased their freedom with blood of our troops and billions in tax payer dollars?!

1. Refugee status isn't citizenship.

2. In most cases, their lives are in real and imminent danger precisely because they are known to have helped America.

3. If you let them die, how do you possibly expect other Iraqis to help America?

Again, incredible stupidity and short sightedness to object to a mere 12,000 people. This isn't about compassion, this is about America's self interest and you're not supporting it.

CBS Sixty Minutes reported that of all places...Sweden had taken
in 40,000 Iraqis in recent years.

Hope we didn't get stuck with unscreened Muslims (with plenty of
concealed Islamics in their midsts).

I think you’re forgetting how many Tories and Continental Army deserters moved to Canada.
