Call me silly, but I have faith in the American people to not allow Obama anywhere near the White House.

While we are on the subject, I have an Aunt in her late 70’s or early 80's who is an old fashioned die hard dim. Great lady, very Conservative but she suffers from BDS. Hillary supporter but can absolutely not stand Obama. Her current position is she will write in Hillary. That may change though, and not in Obama’s favor.

Why not? We lanched WAC Corporal missiles (captured German V2’s) from a carrier deck back in the ‘50’s. It’s technically possible, though not in rough seas (which is 1 reason why we do it from submerged submarines).

I was talking to yet another Democrat of my acquaintance today...

I would be willing to bet that every Freeper here, and I count myself as one, could say the same thing, if he has spoken to an open and honest Democrat and not just those with Bush derangement syndrome

My advise is start digging your bomb shelter. On the other hand, Pelosi and Reid and the Muslim Messiah will surrender to Iran before they can strike. Not to worry until the Iranians knock on your door and haul your family out. Liberals think they, on the other hand, will be left alone by appeasing the enemy, WRONG!!! They forgot their history again.

Say what? This is an entirely plausible scenario. Hardly a scare tactic. More like an eventuality, sad as it is to contemplate. Wake up. Hardly a day goes by Amahdinejad doesn’t encourage some group by telling them something big is going to happen to bring down the USA in the near term.

Not sure if you read the entire thing. The first paragraph did seem like scare tactics to me as well, until I read on. US government officials expressed concern about the purpose of the sea based missile tests. This sort of go for broke attack is right up their alley.

“We have a serious threat like this and half the country is planning to vote for Odumbo.”

Although the theory and the threat of EMP has been around for a considerable time now, we don’t see it often if at all in the MSM. That said, I doubt Joe and Jane American Voter are aware of it, what it is, or the potential of what it can do.

Most often what I have read seems to suggest China might be preparing EMP for targeting the U.S. This article is the first I’ve read about the possibility of the Iranians attempting it.

Regardless I believe we need the Space Based Weapons systems, as well foreign sites outside the American mainland target area for retaliation.

First and foremost though I believe we need to stop Iranian aggression immediately if not last week, or last month.

To us it is very apparent.

To his sycophants on the left and in the media, their adoration seems to grow day by day.

How old is your female friend? In my experience, women over 45 or so (and single/divorced) were pretty strong for Hillary.

Check on all counts. She was big for Hillary. No doubt some of her annoyance with OBambi is that he would not wait his turn and let Hillary be crowned.

If OBambi had been patient, it would have been Clinton/Obama on the ticket, and they would have won at a walk. Then he could have been President in 2016 at the still young age of 53. But he had to go and jump the gun, and now he is going to go down in flames.

MKSheppard on EMP hype:

(Quote)

I see that website continues to point out the myth of "1,000 mile radius blackout" from a high altitude EMP initation.

You may not know it, but the majority of electronic equipment that was irrevocably damaged in Hawaii 800 miles away from the infamous STARFISH PRIME test in the 1960s was domestic radios and television sets which were plugged directly into the power grid, and were susceptible to the voltage spike caused briefly by the test.

Other outages in Hawaii were simply caused by industrial equipment which had been plugged into surge suppressors, and the suppressors had tripped during the brief transistent in the power lines.

All that needed to be done was to reset the surge suppressors circut breakers and the equipment was working again.

Now look at your average surge protector you can buy from Home Depot. The decent ones have telephone and CATV jacks. Put one of those onto your computer, and you're protected from EMP. All you would need to do would be to reset your surge protector's built-in breaker (or replace the protector; depends on how high quality it is) after an event.

To put things in contrast; there was a study done by the nations' electric companies to study the effects of a high altitude initation on the nation's power grid.

Their summation?

A high altitude EMP event, by the time it reached the Earth's surface, would have as much energy as a lightning strike some seven miles away.

Now look at FCC requirements for computer and home entertainment equipment; they all emit electromagnetic emissions when turned on; yet they must not interfere with each other; e.g. you can put your Playstation on top of your television (a giant electron gun) without causing problems in the Playstation.

For cars, the kind of electromagnetic interference caused when your car's sparkplugs fire makes an EMP pulse look small (hint, it's because the engine's computer chips are at best a foot or two away from the sparkplugs, while the high altitude EMP is a hundred plus miles away).

That said, there will still be problems from a high altitude EMP event; mainly around a few things:

1.) People who were stupid enough to have their $4000 home entertainment centers plugged right into the outlet with no surge protector.

2.) Equipment that was so cheap, nobody bothered with a surge protector; such as that $150 TV you got for your youngest daughter's room.

3.) Really, REALLY, REALLY cheap goods; like that wonderful transistor radio you got for $4.99 at a Dollar Store.
