I now live in Texas and I had better steak in Brooklyn then I have had in Texas. Except for Saltgrass, which is ok, nothing in Texas has laid a hand on Peter Luger or the Embers.
Cities like NYC and New Orleans that take their food seriously are always an exception. I’m sure there’s good stuff in greater Chicago, but unfortunately the “famous” ones are never what they are cracked up to be. (e.g. Carsons Ribs are underwhelming. All the great ribs are in mediocre to awful neighborhoods). My one experience at Mortons was nothing to write a blog over.
