“Its kinda cool...speeders ought to be threatened with felony charges and convinced they should do the high-speed chases so we dont need so many cops on the highways.”
OK, darned you! You owe me a new keyboard and monitor. Mine are soaked with coffee!
;-)
“Post #593..... I responded: They also elected Jimmy Carter! I guess I should have included and underlined “American voter” because that was the subject of your comment.”
In the future you should use Ted Kennedy as your example. Or to make it hit closer to home, you could use Pelosi. That way you could address the need for the results of an ignorant electorate’s decisions to belong to a body that makes laws.
;-)
“Jimmy wasn’t elected to make laws.
Should I draw you a picture?”
Ted Kennedy was. You still wanna leave everything up to the voters? BTW, your continual answer regarding tobacco use of “you can’t smoke in a restuarant” is just about the lamest retort that you could have offered. Are you seriously going to support your stance with violations of private property rights? If so, I’ll have to assume that you support all laws, simply because the people voted for them or their representatives legislated them or appointed judicial members that have made laws.
So, you support Kelo and Roe. Glad to see where you stand.
There is wisdom in your words....thank you.
Jimmy Carter has just always been such a nincompoop, a classic example of exalted idiocy......that, when confronted with these situations.....I naturally gravitate to his name. In 1980....at Thanksgiving....when asked at the table what I was thankful for this year.....I responded, "No more Jimmy Carter in a few more weeks". My step Father, a lifelong, staunch democrat did not speak to me for about a year after that. It was his table.....his home.....and he asked the question. My Mother pleaded with me to ask his forgiveness. I did not!
Q: Why wasn't Jeb Bush's daughter, or John Ashcroft's nephew or Al Gore's son used in sting operations?
A: Intelligence. They were smart enough to say a sentence that included the phrase "...speak to my lawyer..."
I stand by my assertion that "sometimes doing drugs (even marijuana) has negative consequences." If nothing else, this 23 year old white woman's death proves my statement. I am not saying that what the police did was right, or even ethical. But unlike this woman's actions, the police were not acting in a criminal manner.
At least you admit to being a criminal, thanks.
I don’t give a crap what you think. And no NO ONE wants drugs available at the 7-11. If you can’t come up with anything sillier don’t try.
Success? What success? Pray tell let me know the “success”. Billions of dollars wasted. 80 percent of people in jail for ridiculous nonsense like having a small amount of pot.
I bet you just laugh and laugh when some poor guy in a wheelchair with a medical pot card gets arrested. I bet it really floats your boat, doesn’t it?
You made your point well. I don’t think anyone wants that sort of nonsense going on at work, but the article was discussing if pot should be legal or not.
Maybe you need to reread the article I am talking about. He is a kid lying on the ground with a BROKEN BACK and broken heel. No drugs or alcohol in his system and he has no weapons on him. Can you give me one reason WHY he should tasered 19 times? No because you can’t. I bet some cop stood there and said “get up there boy and stand up! Stand up I say!” and when he didn’t respond or said something ugly (which is understandable considering he was in shock) why they just let him have it. After all, they were really in danger, weren’t they?
Lord, a person with common sense instead of hatred. How rare.
I’m not an alcoholic nor do I drink, does that mean I should not be able to have any input in DUI laws? If so, why not?
You can say that again. Sometimes I think this country is getting just what it deserves at times because of the stupid stuff we do.
People who make comments about killing people who use drugs are insane and you are wasting your time. These are the types who celebrate the death of a young woman and say she “deserved it”. Probably future types like that guy out west who shot two people in the back for stealing from his neighbor.
When they walked up to his car, a startled Portillo reached under his seat. The deputies believed he was reaching for a weapon, Fuchs said.
Court records showed Portillo was arrested in June 2007. He pleaded guilty in October to a felony count of possession of a controlled substance
An Inglewood court judge placed Portillo into a rehabilitation program.
Jail and court records indicate he was arrested on May 27 because he had failed to appear for an earlier hearing to update his progress.

Authorities said deputies were patrolling the area, looking for a man they suspected was dealing drugs. Neighbors had complained to police that the man was dealing drugs out of a garage. Deputies approached the suspected drug dealer, 34-year-old Christian Portillo, who was sitting in a parked car. When deputies tried to detain him, they said Portillo reached under his seat.
Police said they thought he might be reaching for a gun
Ah now you’ve done it. Just let them think we’re all drooling, crazy, insane “reefer madness” heroin junkies. It’s easier.
Good for you. I voted for that idiot and I’m ashamed to admit it. But I was young and stupid. I’ll never forget how it felt standing in line to throw Carter out. I expect I’ll feel the same way in four years after we’ve had a bellyful of Obama.
Gee and once again, they were wrong. Seems to be happening a lot, don’t it?
Josue Portillo said his son, Christian Portillo, 35, a Latino man, was listening to music in a Jeep Cherokee at their residence.
Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, told the L.A. Times that two deputies were on patrol when they saw a man sitting in his parked car. Whitmore said the deputies approached the man and said he was “physically startled, agitated and reached under his seat.” One of the deputies, fearing for his safety, fired his weapon, hitting Portillo in the upper torso,
Los Angeles County public records show that Portillo was convicted of driving with a suspended license, and more than 15 years ago he was convicted on charges of vandalism and bringing drugs into a prison or jail.
Don’t tell me. Talk to the one’s who are spending your tax money. Welfare: waste of money. Congressional raises:waste of money. NASA: waste of money.
