When you dump in 20 to maybe 100 million new Democrats over- let’s be conservative- 4 years then you have a suddenly and totally socialist country.

Not likely. Islam is on steroids right now in one of its periodic drives to conquer. These drives have in the past ended when Westerners have inflicted horrific damage on their military power such that recovery was not possible for a long time. They are Moslems and ipso facto extremely fatalistic. A reaction or a "pre-empive" strike that were to destroy the infrastructure and military capability of the prime actor in the jihad(at this point- destruction of Iran) would cause it all to deflate because it would prove to Moslems everywhere that Allah does not will for Islam to prevail in this generation/century. Moslems will lapse back into the torpor that characterized Islam through the latter Ottoman period right up until the modern era. They will not have disappeared and it will happen all over again in a later generation when the current seems once again to favor Jihad and Conquest.
I would readily agree, but for one thing. Living in a Liberal pesthole as I do, I noted a sudden shift of attitude on 9-12-01. Some of then STAYED shifted to this day.
Others fled back into their fantasies. Next time, should it happen with nukes, all cities are nests of Leftists. When they start losing relatives and friends human instincts trump ideology.
9-12-01 was a bad day to spout leftist platitudes. I heard none here. It took weeks for the worst of them to slink back to their ideologies. Two liberal friends suddenly asked for a trip to the Range. One slipped back, the other is now on here.

It would just take one. Because after that all it would take is an anonymous web post or call to the news station and nobody who works downtown would show up the next morning. Economic collapse. Not down turn, not recession, great depression.
This country isn't as peaceful and unified as we pretend it is. The prosperity to pay for bread and circuses and lots of men in blue keeps the lid on. It didn't take New Orleans 24 hours to revert to behaving like Mogadishu when those things were interrupted.
What's going to keep the lid on when we can't afford those anymore? We'll find out. But it doesn't take much imagination to see it'll more closely parallel 1930s Germany or 1990s Russia than anything we've seen here.
