No matter who says what at this point in time, there will still be at least 60,000 troops for at least the next 10 years.

If they want us out we should get out. The GOP has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on this one. Amazing they actually provide Obama with an advantage on this issue. Sad.

“U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is right when he talks about 16 months,” al-Maliki told Der Spiegel. He said he wants U.S. troops to leave “as soon as possible.”

From all I can tell is that this was a loaded question. Maliki was generally speaking about a timeline when it came to Obama’s “16 months” but qualified it by stating “as soon as possible”.

Maliki should realize that had Obama had more power early on regarding troop deployment, he (Maliki) would have been dead and buried by now.
