I haven't been through the panhandle in years, but when did go though, it looked like the dust bowl days of the 1930's. Not much to see there, so it's a good place for windmills, but that's not the case everywhere. And, why aren't the Greenies worried about wiping out the bird population?

I wonder how many windmills it takes to replace one pebble bed nuke plant? It's safe, put it a few miles off the main drag, over a ridge, and nobody would even know it was there.

What would this do to the price of natural gas for home heating?

In one sentence...you say you don't have an objection to Pickens making money.

In another you exclaim that Pickens is "making a killing". That doesn't square up.

But on the other hand...I agree with you in his wind stance. And he's also claiming in a radio commercial here in OK...that we can't "drill our way out". That comes across very self-serving to me...and I think it's Bovine Scatology.

All that said.....Pickens has given away millions and millions...and no doubt will give away more after he's dead and gone. I think he's a decent guy...but the wind deal has got me puzzled.

I drove a work truck back in the early 80's powered by CNG.

It's very doable...and probably as save as your car with a 16 gallon gas tank.

I thought T. Boone was too busy coaching the Oklahoma State Cowboys to spend time worrying about wind power.

You know, you have really changed the world with your conversation
about wind energy, PickensPack.com...

Hmmm...maybe that's a valid website in Canada.

But all I've heard about is pickensplan.com.

Maybe The National Post has skimped on fact-checking.

If the posted transcript is accurate, too bad T. Boone didn't
correct the host.

And the host could have done some real interviewing.
And ask T. Boone about The Wall Street Journal article of Thursday
July 17, 2008.
The front-page article that also took up a fair chunk of the
last page of Section A.
About the huge jump in prices paid for electrical power.
In de-regulated Texas.

T. Boone should cut a deal with the state of Texas...and tell
them to build a better transmission system, while he'll put up
the wind turbines and sell at a better cost than Texas is experiencing
this summer.

My only point was Pickens is making a fortune on the oil sands projects but wants to spend his money lobbying congress to help him get his turbines and transmission lines instead of his own cash. If he wants to help and honestly believes turbines are the answer then let him negotiate contracts with the landowners, invest his own money, and see if he’s right. There are three companies bidding for the contracts for “wind rights” currently and he does have the best contract but he also has a couple of guys running around threatening landowners with lawsuits if they don’t allow the surveying to take place. I personally know people who’ve been threatened with this eminent domain stuff. People who’ve owned their land for over 100 years and continue to pay their property taxes now have someone lobbying their government to seize their property. Maybe I could have clarified better in my earlier post.

If we approve T. Boone Pickens’s energy plan there will fewer T-bones and plenty of slim pickings!

“I’ve got no objection to T. Boone or anyone else making money “
True, but without the almost $5 billion that the PUCT is assuring him, from the pockets of Texans, he would not make a dime.

8% of the Wind Capacity is generating in the summer time across peak.

T. Boone learned his lesson well from Jerry Jones, let the tax payers ensure your profit by building a stadium.
