Reverend is not actually a title anyway, it is an adjective like honorable. Somewhere along the way people started to think of it as a title but in reality it never was.

On occasion you will hear someone referred to as "Reverend Doctor Smith", which typically suggests a pastor of a church with a congregation who also has a Ph.D. in Theology. I think what irritates me is that most people are not aware of the distinction and both are swinging the "Rev." moniker as though it is an earned title. Further, Reverend is normally reserved for someone who has a church and a congregation. Jesse and Al have never had either. I think the MSM media should drop the bogus title.
