What I wanted to know is what is the regional authority that levies taxes on you? For what purpose are they receiving taxes?
Many, many years ago, I worked for a regional planning agency in Kentucky. At the time, I was getting a degree in city and regional planning. Through the years I began to see that what I orginally thought was a good idea (and it was) has now turned into another level of government - which I am vehemently opposed to. One of my professors was fond of saying in his classes, “All planning is done in the name of the state”. He said it so many times that it became a joke among the students. Now, when I see it in actual fact, it is not and has not been a joke at all. What was then creeping socialism is now galloping. It is time to rein in this horse.

Thank you for reminding me of that. It bears repeating:
Our country had a revolution over a 3% tax on tea.

I know, I had a little set-to with them about the Homestead Act and finally had it resolved in my favor.

You are correct. They meet at the taxpayers expense and stay in lavish accommodations and eat the best foods with their spouse of girlfriends on us. They come up with inventive ways of raising you taxes and getting freebies and figuring out ways to increase their benefits.I left an organization because of this. You can become involved but if you do not have a big turnover duing an election you cannot accomplish anything. The longer these elected officials stay around the more inventive they are. The Municipal Association is SC is just as good.

Good post. We really, really need people like you in our local and state governments.
I’m open for a contribution to you to run for county commissioner or state rep.

Thanks sergentdave, but I’ll be 70 on my next birthday and don’t want to take a chance of losing my principles at this late date.

Run for county supervisor. South Carolina’s counties are being infiltrated by leftists, as evidenced in Greenville County’s asinine tree cutting ordinance. This is where small government advocates can make a difference.
