Hamming is fun. Morse code is hard to learn, but I know it. (great grandfather was a telegraph operator for the New Haven Railroad.)

Back in the day, I actually worked California from Texas on a Handytalki, 1n the FM part of the band. I'm stuck with 52.525 right now because that's all I've got available to make rf on 6 meters.

CW is just great! For 29 dollars (that includes shipping) you can get a CW transceiver that can make contacts all over the country...and beyond. I have built one of these...it's a simple kit and it even has a processor onboard that provides keyer functions. It's called a RockMite and they are normally operated on the QRP calling frequencies.

Its a technicians license I think it allows the kid to run on trunk radios.

I’m not up on all of it myself. I could have gotten a license years ago when you had to know theory and all that.

Its mostly protocol now a days to get started.

Thanks for the link. When I built my 50Mhz qrp rig, we had to design it from scratch, and no way would it do a half watt. I need to dig that thing out, and get it fired up again.
