I’ve fortunately managed to miss out on all the multicultural and sensitivity training that has become common in government and many large corporations.
Many articles about African slaves taken to Arabia can be found on the internet. Several I’ve scanned make the point that the Arabs and African Americans and Africans seem to desire to minimize that part of their history. Of course, too many in the West will be too ignorant, or too guilt ridden to speak up when this blatant and self-serving hypocrisy is practiced.
Many African slaves were trained to serve in Arab armies and I think there was some achievement of rank there for a few. But what was said in that seminar was a common fiction that goes along with how wonderfully Christians and Jews were treated under Islam. I guess they mean the survivors who weren’t slaughtered when their homes in North Africa and the Byzantine Empire were overrun by Muslim armies.
