Jindal is looking like a lightweight...(not unlike Barack I might add)...

Thanks for the links, abb.
While the ranking of conservative principles is debatable, one would have to agree that "less government at all levels" has to be close to the top. At least it is with me. Jindal has violated that principle flagrantly. It's all documented.

We are preparing our signs.
ONE is:
NO VETO
NO VOTE
Another one:
GAS-$4 a gallon
Lobby Meals-$50
Legislators pay-$50,000
Promises & Veto-PRICELESS
If Jindal truly is a RINO (which I dont know yet), it gives him a much better chance of being picked as McCains vp candidate.
Unless you have been following all of the details of the actions of Jindal and the Louisiana legislature, you are in no position to make this judgment. The Louisiana legislature is behaving just as they have done for decades. And Jindal has shown no leadership ability whatsoever...all that he has demonstrated is his ability to put on a dog and pony show, never missing an opportunity to claim credit for making the sun rise in the morning and set in the evening. His much touted ethics reforms are examples of toothless legislation...they look good on the books but there are no measures taken to assure enforcement. Jindal has a well organized self-promotion advertising campaign to make sure that the public is informed of all of his “achievements.” This campaign has recently been running frequent advertisements bragging about legislation that “Jindal has passed”, when Jindal actually opposed the legislation. In addition, Jindal recently has broken a written, highly promoted campaign promise...and this is not the first time. I have supported Bobby in every campaign he has undertaken...but never again.
Hey Patrick there will never be a politician that will please everyone 100% of the time. Get a life boy! BTW whats up with you and your feaking sign?
Same here. Are we getting the whole story?
Which is the very reason I started these daily updates. But I can't make you read them - I can only do so much.
I live in South Carolina but was in LA Mon and Tue of this week on a trip.
Based on what I heard on local talk radio, the citizens are very, very pissed about the pay raise.
And I don’t blame them.
Funny what constitutes conservatism when it suits conservatives.
Like the Jefferson of old who paid bribes to the Barbary pirates to get them not to interfere with American shipping, the Louisianian “Jefferson”, young Mr. Jindal, is gambling that he can pay bribes to the old legislative bulls to keep them from opposing his programs. Didn’t work with Jefferson; may not with young Jindal
Pa government is working hard to unseat Louisiana and Arkansas as the most corrupt state.
Two top GOP leaders were amongst those who got their asses handed to them and one Democrat leader who refused to pay back the raise he got was also trounced. We expect any day now that he and many others will face indictment on unrelated charges involving misuse of tax payer monies.
And guess what? Ed Rendell SIGNED that pay raise bill. And it hasn't cost him anything. In fact, it helped him immensely because all those senior Republicans who supported it got tossed out by the voters. The Democrats gained control of the House for the first time in decades and now they are giving Rendell everything he wants. It was a BONANZA for him.
Why should Bobby Jindal save these guys' bacon by vetoing this bill? He should sign it and let the voters turn their wrath where it belongs, to the legislators themselves. If he vetoes it they will get off scot free. By November it will be old news and they won't pay any price for it at all.
To date, these issues haven't come up for debate in the Louisiana Legislature. I suppose we'll see if Gov. Jindal's actions reflect his rhetoric. But on "big government" vs. "small government" he flunked that test.
Pelican State ping
As I understand it, the pay raise for a part-time legislature was to $37,500 from $16,800. May you guys in corrupt states need to figure out a couple of other conservative principles, such as you get what you pay for, there is no free lunch, and you pay for people's work. You guys may not like the work your legislature is doing, but you are not going to get better people serving by paying them badly and then beating them up for it. I presume that this part time job for them is in fact really a second full time job.
Same with your bureaucrats. I don't know what you were paying them before and now, but I'll bet the current numbers will not shock the conscience.
How about his principles? Aren't those discredited?
If all the Louisiana folks around here are correct, and I have no reason to believe they're blowing smoke, then Jindal has increased spending, tried to water down tax cuts, and gone back on promises made during the election. Just how does that qualify him as "one of the most promising (and brilliant) Republicans"?
I suggest then you do some research before dispensing advice on what should be done.

POLL: OUST THOSE WHO SUPPORTED THE PAY RAISE
Thank you, you seem to “get it.”
I’ve been following politics a very long time down here in Louisiana and I’ve never seen a more enraged electorate. Jindal is being excoriated for his failure to live up to his campaign credentials and his failure to live up to his pledges.
The thing I find most appalling about Jindal is his unwillingness to fight. He’s a caver. He has no balls, period. He has even stated as much - “I’d be the most popular Governor in the State if I veto’d this legislation.” So then, VETO damn thing Jindal. I would just about bet he made a back room deal with the Legislatures to NOT VETO (a broken campaign promise to voters) this pay raise over the extreme objections of the people who put him in office. HE’S A SELLOUT!!!
I was one of his most ardent supporters. But now I’m thoroughly disappointed in him. He still might resurrect his credentials, but he’s got a long row to hoe now. He’ll be lucky to dodge a recall of his own.
At to freepers who want to excoriate Abb for his postings....I have no sympathy. You know, following Katrina everyone came here to post their silly posts about the people of Louisiana and how we got what we voted for over the years. They took us to task for the politicians we put in office and our civic failures. Limbaugh made many commentary on it. It was banter here for a long time.
Now, the good citizens of Louisiana want to hold their politicians accountable, hold their collective feet to the fire, become involved in the process.....and what to Freepers say now. Hell, they want to damn us again for taking part in our Statewide Democracy. They want to crucify us because we are bringing attention to a political figure posing himself as a Conservative. Well, Freepers, if that’s what your really are, you can’t have it both ways!!!!
