His views on those subjects are well known even by people who found him otherwise funny. I just don’t want that stuff associated with me.

That’s why I asked you “IF” it was an attempt at humor.
You explained that it was an attempt at humor - a decidedly and remarkably poor attempt, true - but, according to you, an attempt, nonetheless. I’ll take you word for it.
Maybe you’re right. Maybe in the hands of a talented comedian with stage presence, he/she may have been able to dig up some acid-humor out of the idea behind what you wrote, rather than what you actually did write.

God was unavailable for comment. (Carlin would have wanted it that way.)

I remember his routine on the “f” word, how he wanted to substitute the work “f” for the word kill in all the old movie cliche’s we grew up with:
“Okay Sheriff, we gonna “f” you now. But we gonna “f” you SLOW!”

George Carlin was much smarter than the comedian he played on stage. So long to a wise guy... Well, true. But Brenda was the financial brains of the family. Without her, he'd have been... well... what he was after she was gone.

What Captainpaintball wrote is funny, because it's probably true.

No nearly as miserable a human being as a person who comes into a thread about a comedian's death and says "I don't find him to be funny at all. He sounds like a miserable human being." THAT would be a truely miserable human being. I'm not the one who thinks making fun of someone's religion and hate for this country are funny. He's was a comedian and I'm supposed to treat him as some type of saint. I don't think so. Deal with it.

Carlin is one of those people who probably would have gotten a kick out of just the sorts of arguments going on in this thread.

Sad news to wake up to.
A man of intelligent and radical humour as opposed to “comedy” now.

I still remember the ICBM tracks on his weather map LOL.
Man I swear I saw that way before he was ever known.
To: NonValueAdded
He was funny as heck until he started to politicize
everything. His gigs just became political lectures...no longer funny.
He gave me lots of laughs early on, though.
