“Though McCain is very flawed and not my candidate, he is head and shoulders above the terrorist appeasing unpatriotic, America hating Obama.”

The problem is that too much emphasis has been placed on McCain’s military service and not enough on his liberal record as a US senator. We, as a nation, do not necessarily need a military hero as our president, but we definitely need a conservative political leader in that spot. McCain does not fill the latter position and Obama would be a total outrage.

America, we are in a terrible quandry.

I’ll leave it simple... (first drink in a month.. meaning ‘buzzing now’)..
Soros is (I want to say a genius, but I know he’s not) a really good strategist.. I think he knew the weaknesses of the U.S. and took advantage of it.
Is he smart? yup... is he good (good vs. evil), (black vs. white)... No Way... He is EVIL... and he is doing to this (that since I am not there now) country, knowing how much power he holds with his money in the U.S.A. without ANY counter punch to challenge him.

And I think he is actually trying to destroy the moral values and beliefs within to bring in his beliefs of communism...

I am probably singing to the choir now... but, I wish I could do something to save America (USA)...

Forgot what my main point was...

NEW YORK In an interview for this Sunday's edition of The New York Times Magazine, famed novelist/essayist Gore Vidal appears to question Sen. John McCain's account of being imprisoned by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam war.

That's famed novelist/essayist poofter and anti-American Gore Vidal .....

Also.

Gore Vidal’s mother, Nina Gore Vidal, was divorced in 1935, when Vidal was ten. She then married Hugh D. Auchincloss, a wealthy financier, who in turn divorced her and married Jacqueline Kennedy’s mother, thus establishing a connection between Vidal and the Kennedy clan that persisted through the presidency of John F. Kennedy.

Gore Vidal is a far left anti-semitic, anti-American nutjob.

Enough is enough. John McCain served his country honorably.

Rhetoric like this from a POS like Gore Vidal, will not help Obama get elected. I hope the leftwing keeps spewing this crap, it will help to sink Obama’s chances further.

Toward the end of the Dole campaign, I started to hear rumors about how Dole's injury had been self-inflicted ... and it must've been true because they'd heard that there had been an article about it in Time magazine . . .

If they'd try to take Dole's injury away, they'll try anything.

While I knew Vidal was an ardent left-winger and a fudgepacker, I had no idea he was such a bitter little man. Sad. I used to think he was a talented writer.

I'm no fan of McCain, I'm not even likely to vote for him, but I really hope this bitter little turd campaigns for Obama.

Is there any particular reason the NYT gives space to a raving lunatic?

Oh, never mind, it IS the NYT.

Objectionable people won’t need to campaign for Obama if you follow up on your resolve not to vote for McCain.

Interesting. If one reads this quickly, Vidal seems to say that he is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point. He's not.

When you think about it, this could explain the story of Old Gore. The stern father whose life was given over to the service of his country (and with relatively little time for his son), the over-protective, well-connected mother who gave her son his "artistic temperament", and (to complete the triangle) the son (Gore) who didn't feel his father's love, whose literary and other accomplishments failed to suitably impress Daddy, and who sought love in the physical attentions of other men. Throw in a pedophile relative or family friend, and you could have the biography of Gore Vidal (the hidden chapters the general public will never get to see).

Douglas McArthur could have gone the same way (many of the external details match), but he somehow managed to escape that fate. Strength of Character perhaps?

I wonder if Mr Vidal has talked to any of Senator McCain's fellow POW's in the Hanoi Hilton?

Namely...Charlie Plumb; Kay Russell; Bud Day; Jack Van Loan; Read McCleary; Norris Overly.

The archaic archetype, Vidal, is still alive. I don’t believe it. I think he made it up.

Too bad Buckley didn’t chose his words a bit better during that convention
reportage years ago.

He probably grew to loath Vidal because he’s a jerk, not because
he’s gay.

Perhaps Vidal has McCain confused with that other Annapolis graduate. The infamous Jimmy Carter! How that “intellectual” got into the nuclear submarine program is still a mystery. Adm. Rickover must have had a really bad day to let the “peanut” enter the fleet.

So because he is in the Navy he can’t be trusted? Or was this some sort of stupid Army vs Navy joke. Or could it be Karl Rove used his time machine to go back to the 1960s and fake this whole McCain POW thing. Maybe him and Scott Bakula can team up in other such leaps in time.

And how many posters here will side with Vidal on this one.

Probably the same number as those who think his time spent in the prison camp makes him above reproach.
