"....now is the time for common sense solutions."So often has the phrase "common sense" been used as a liberal buzzword referring to their screwed up idealogies that I did a double-take when it actually referred to common sense.

Inholfe has been a Conservative warrior in the Senate! He spoke at length of the perils of the global warming hoax, and it was well researched and presented. This energy position that he is taking is another area he excels.
We should all thank him. We need a lot more just like him.

No - not VP - we need him right where he is - in the US Senate, one of the very very few voices of sanity and strength left!
Thank God for you, Senator Inhofe!

John Prine had that scoped a few of decades ago, but I recall seeing an article about a study which claimed only about 7% of the population have what would have been referred to in the '60s as 'common sense'.
One thing my science professors pointed out repeatedly: "The majority is the majority, but it is not always right."
Being right is often a thankless and brutal job, right up to the moment where what you have fought aganist consensus and ridicule to point out becomes commonly held belief. Then some jerk will take the credit, if they can.

Yeah...POTUS would be ideal, but as it currently stands, he can’t be the GOP nominee. (He’s too conservative for that.) So VP would be my dream at the moment.

Rep Stevc King (Iowa) doing a great job on the House floor this evening speaking about the need for more drilling and blaming the ‘rats and environmentalists specifically for current high gas prices and obstructng the country’s ability to bring in more domestic oil. Says the same arguments about maintaining a “pristine” landscape were used to try to block drilling on the Alaska north slope thirty years ago - yet since that was accomplished there have been no spills and the caribou, which were supposed to be destroyed by the pipeline, have actually multiplied in number (seems the warmth from the pipeline makes them more “amorous” and they’re breeding more than ever) - calls the ‘rats’ obsession with blocking drilling “a religion” and says specifically they are trying to hurt the country by denying us sufficient energy - would that more Repubs would have the courage to speak out so directly and graphically about what’s really going on......
To: Delacon
There are some good Republicans fighting the good fight. Unfortunately it is not coming from the top of the Republican party.
To: Delacon
Absent an irate citizenry storming the Capitol with pitchforks by torchlight, the Democrat majority in the Congress is not about to pass a bill allowing drilling. Several reasons:
1. The Rats want the voters to blame Bush for high oil prices & want to keep the price high until Obama is elected.
2. The very act of passing a drilling bill would cause oil prices to drop, and that conflicts with (1).

I like him also, but he is still TOO DCized. I have received a panhandling e-mail form him recently. He was so proud of his new TV ad called “Africa”. He is so proud of his tax payer junkets doing the job that Dr. Rice wont do. He could better spend the tax dollars and time in the USA pushing oil production in Oklahoma and touring the state to see the damage the federal government is doing. I did not write him a check.
