Not to mention the time wasted sitting in line just to save a dollar or two.
$4.12 this AM, Rochester, NY area
gas didn’t seem to have any trouble coasting up to $4.00 so I figure it is still on the incline and hasn’t topped off yet, like my gas tank.
Not that long ago it cost me $14 to fill up, now it cost $45...ahhh for the good old days...
I’m drawing maps of all the places I have to go with all the stores along the route so I can do sweep shopping. If I have to go to the hardware store I check my maps and see what else I can do in the same area. If I have to go to Costco, it is also Target and Meijers and Trader Joes. No more Target on Monday....Costo on Friday...now it is eat, go to the potty, get the list and get it over.
I know a guy connected with the trucking business and he said the truckers are really suffering with the high gas prices.
No kidding. Let's say you save 20 cents on a 20 gallon fillup. That saves you, what? Four bucks?
Theres a gas station in my town where people sit and wait in lines that look a half of mile long just to save a few cents a gallon.
The gas station even employ’s people to manage the lines.
Crazy Stuff. I’ll pay the extra 60 cents just to save the half hour and the aggravation.
So what, is Costco 20 cents cheaper? That’s like 4 bucks on a 20-gallon fillup?
You’d wait in line for 20 minutes for 4 bucks, and use a tire iron on people?
Wow.
Funny thing is, people with big SUVs who leave their car running for A/C while waiting in line have burnt up their savings by the time they get to the pump — worse if they drove a few miles out of the way to get there.
Penny smart, Pound foolish.
How is paying $15 for a new locking gas cap, “proper”?
And that's a crowd? - Most of the day we have 8-10 cars in each of 10 pump lanes at our Costco, with a queue of another 10-15 cars in the driveway leading in.
“I scoot across the river now and juice up in Iowa. Last time I got gas there, it was $3.79.
Here in the stupid state of Illinois it is $3.99 a gal, thanks to some of the highest state gas taxes in the nation.”
State Trooper task force is probably being formed to find a way to ticket folks for this evasion of the Il. gas tax.
Are you channeling me? (Ping to 65...)
What are you idling in, a locomotive? ;o)
Ah, I remember those days.
Gassing up on odd/even days according to your license plate number, and the inevitable confusion for the owners of personalized plates.
Good times!
I don’t idle.
I have no a/c, so I can’t run it (cue violin).
If I stick to the above, and go to Costco when I’m in the area anyway, I think it pays.
Also, if we all go to the cheapest station we can find, doesn’t that drive down gas prices?
I have no idea how they make a living right now. No to mention all the other small business men and women who use diesel specifically. Most medium sized lawn care businesses use diesel trucks to haul their equipment with. All deliver trucks of any type are diesel.
When we bought our truck, diesel was the cheapest fuel. Now, not so much.
Here in San Diego Costco gas is only a couple of pennies cheaper than some of the Arcos and Exons!
The Navy base is (military only with ID) is $4.32 in San Diego
Thats funny. Costco justice!
