“Help me out, what conservative candidates are currently running under the Republican party banner now? (I did not realize there were any.)”

Conservative Phil Gramm is running ... as MCCain’s economic advisor.

If McCain wins, there will be conservatives in the White House (if not in the president’s chair). If Obama wins, there wont be a single shred of conservative influence. It will be hate-speech to even express conservative views.

Suffer. Buy ammo. Work to kick the spinless RINOs out of the party. Learn arabic.

Look, I have an idea. You and others complain about those opposed to John McCain as being whiners and do nothings. Well, since you're so hooked on doing something, do this.

You and your McCain buddies convince John McCain to campaign with conservative values we all can support. No amnesty. The borders will be sealed and no illegal aliens will be allowed to remain within our borders. No to Global Warming and cap-and-trade legislation. Extension of President Bush's tax cuts permanently. Drilling offshore of California, in the Gulf of Mexico, in ANWAR, or anywhere else within the United States that sufficient oil reserves can be found. This would also include shale oil deposits.

Do that and I will be happy to change my mind. As I said he has to convince me; not you. Nothing you can say or do (other than the above) will make me change my vote. Only he can do that.

Impossible? That's not my fault. He won't listen? Same answer. I should give in? Why, if he won't?

You have given me not one reason to vote for the man. Neither has he. (No, he's the least of two evils is NOT a reason to vote for a man as I've said before). Convince him to give me a reason or get off it. As for you, you want me to change my vote, you'll have to work for it.

Your vision is limited,

No it see it pretty clear. GOD presides over the affairs of men and nations not the Democratic or Republican Parties. The leaders are a direct reflection or cause and effect of the hearts of the people of the nation. I will vote in the presidential race as I see an acceptable candidate to vote for but it will not be for a DEM or Republican this time.

Conservative values will never be lost with me and if they are with you, it’s you that has the problem. Now I suspect that You and I and a whole hoard of Conservatives will never lose our values no matter who is in there.

“Look, I have an idea. You and others complain about those opposed to John McCain as being whiners and do nothings. Well, since you’re so hooked on doing something, do this.”

Excuse me, I’m *already* doing something. I am helping a State Rep race, a US Senator, a Congressman, and some local candidates. Yes, it is correct to berate whiners because they bemoan a *myth* that no conservatives are running, when in fact *hundreds* of them are running for office *right now*. Just not for President.

Its a key point because an Obama sweep will cost many conservatives their races if we dont get our act together.. Bob Shaffer’s senate race is one example. I dont want him to lose because whining suicide conservatives throw conservative candidates overboard due to their mccain mutiny.

Your idea to move John McCain right is a good one. I suggest you get yourself activated to make your desire a reality.

“Impossible? That’s not my fault. “ Sure it is, if you dont try. You should be on the John McCain blog *now* and hammering your message home to them, it will make a difference in the margins.

“You have given me not one reason to vote for the man.”
My reasons: Judges, Taxes (much better than Obama), winning in Iraq and GWOT, and he’s prolife while Obama is a proabortion extremist. Oh, and Obama is a crypo-marxist with a history of associating with radicals and foreign policy views as naive and dangerous as Jimmy Carters. I’d vote a wounded skunk over Obama.

“I and a whole hoard of Conservatives will never lose our values no matter who is in there.”

You are right about that, we will still be who we are.

But every year the leftist control of academia and the media grows stronger, and the next generation gets indoctrinated further left. I think the real reason the left is resurgent has much to do with the institutional advantage they’ve gained from controlling these levers. And I think a leftist President like Obama will write into law a *lot* of “Fund the Left” programs, like payoffs to ACORN, Legal Services payoffs to liberal activist lawyers, not to mention putting ACLU-type judges, that will together permantently move USA policies to the left. Gay marriage is but one tip-of-iceberg example.

If the republican party is annihilated in the November elections what are your political plans?

Stay with the party?

Break-away party?

My political fortunes are not based on wether or not the Republican Party wins or loses. It has not been my idealogical home for some time now. Maybe I’ll kick some dirt into the hole....thats’ about it.

go to work, raise my kids, pay my taxes, go to church, hug my wife, feed my dog, call my mom, ride a bike, play some tennis, go to the range and keep up the shooting skill, work out on the bag and weights,..........oh yeah, sleep and eat.

In other words I'll live. I don't depend on who is President to "make me happy". The congress is filled with earmarking thieves and crooks (both parties) and if the whole country went to sh#t, I'd still out work 80-90 per cent of the people I meet.

My "job" is too make sure my kids out work the kids of liberals, pretty easy acutally and to out work the kids of conservatives and home schoolers.... a lot tougher.

Oh, so you’re campaigning for state and congressional races. But it was the Presidential race I suggested you get involved in. That’s the one you’re berating me for. What makes you think I’m not active in my state and congressional districts? Hmmm?

GWOT and the courts are two areas that McCain is solid (except for Guantanamo), but they’re offset greatly by amnesty and Global Warming. Your problem, however, is your constant harping about his being the lesser of two evils. That I don’t buy, and it makes you shrill and petulant. I suggest a better approach.

As for voting for a wounded skunk, that’s what you get with McCain. I’m glad to see you realize that.

“Oh, so you’re campaigning for state and congressional races. But it was the Presidential race I suggested you get involved in.”

I am saying: Take your idea and run with it! If you think it will help - DO IT! I am doing my thing to help conservatives, YOU DO YOURS.

“GWOT and the courts are two areas that McCain is solid (except for Guantanamo), but they’re offset greatly by amnesty and Global Warming.”

#1 - They are orthogonal issues.
#2 - and this is key ... AGW and amnesty are monster bills that have to get through the Congress. to defeat them, win the Congress. Obama will be worse on global warming and worse on amnesty, so sitting on your hands over those issues is a ‘do nothing’ play that won’t get the job done. what will get the job done is helping the conservatives who are running for Congress.

” Your problem, however, is your constant harping about his being the lesser of two evils. That I don’t buy,”
your problem, not mine, that you don’t grasp the obvious:
1. McCain is a moderate-to-conservative, Obama was rated *most liberal* Senator in the Senate last year.
McCain is better on taxes, Judges, Iraq, Iran, GWOT, right-to-life, gun rights, earmarks/spending, and gay marriage (Obama will use his bully pulpit to encourage it)
2. McCain is a capable and experienced man who served the country his whole life, even in a POW camp. Obama has spent a lifetime raised and associated with radicals, marxists, and leftwing activists; he has served ‘the cause’ of leftwing politics only and nothing else. Ideology aside, and putting just the basic protection of the country on the line, there is no comparison - McCain is better.
3. We vote based on who is best for the country as top priority. We will clean up the mess of RINO poop in the RNC later as a secondary priority, top priority of a patriot is what is best for America.
4. Based on #1 and #2, McCain is far far better for this country than Obama.
5. Neither man is ‘evil’, but far more bad things will happen to USA if Obama is elected.
6. You never win by losing. The most leftwing President in American history - Obama - will be a huge blow to the conservative cause. Anyone who thinks otherwise is on drugs.

Ergo, the right choice for President for any conservative is not sit-on-hands-and-hope-for-best, it is this: Vote for John McCain, with reservations that he is disagreeable on some items (AGW and amnesty), and continue the fight for our issues after he gets in office.

Save “shrill and petulant” for those who predict the fall of our party, cause and country if we elect a guy as liberal as Ford and Eisenhower.

that is the best case for voting for McCain that I have seen so far.

I may still vote Barr, and hope for the total destruction of the republican party, to be replaced within an election cycle or two by a new conservative party that embraces fiscal conservatism, the constitution, and libertarian social policies.
