Not quite George. If these areas were opened today, it would be a few years before we'd see any effect on the gasoline market. But it's a good start.
While I’m all for domestic oil, I don’t beleive it’s a magic pill.
>> “our nation’s commitment to a strong dollar”
I think W needs to pull down the ol’ dictionary and look up the word “commitment”.
I don’t think it actually means what he thinks it means!
I’ll bet it’s “Slovenia” not “Solvenia.”
BTW: why should we care about reducing our hydrocarbon uptake? Global warming is a hoax; let’s just call it for what it is.
The hydrocarbons we need to reduce are the ones we buy from abroad. The financial drain is wrecking the economy and impoverishing all of us.
>> If not for the RINOs, we could have been drilling in ANWR starting in 2001.
Or at least, 2002... might’ve been a little easier to pull this off when the same party controlled the congress AND the white house. Yathink?
That’s a good point. I do believe we would see some drop, maybe not huge but every little bit helps.
Is he kidding? Wait. This is satire, isn't it?
This should have been part of the policy immediately after 9/11. (Actually, it should have been policy for the last 30 years).
This is a national security issue now, and in combination with a stepped up program to search for alternatives, it should override the fuzzy science that’s driving the decisions today.
They had several months of majority before Jumpin Jim left the republicans.
Or perhaps he’s saying the “difficult period” won’t end in a matter of months.
I believe there is some research that shows this is, indeed, the case.
Basically, the prices would drop because of the impending (and serious) threat of a new supplier. Current suppliers react by providing more supply (i.e., lowering prices) to make the ROI unattractive to prospective investors in the new supply source.
I may not be stating all of the particulars accurately, but that’s the jest of it.
Bush — barking at the moon again, still hoping for a “NEW TONE” in Washington. I guess he did not feel the giant rectal suppository that the Dims gave him in 2001 when it comes to “new tone” and liberal cooperation. Someone should buy Jorge a copy of the New York Slimes.
Typical remark or whiners.....let someone else do the writing (I do daily) let someone else do the calling (done daily)just complain it is sooooo much easier. Not drilling is the fault of a lax people who think government is the end all be all when government it the problem 9 times out of 10. Get active yourself - Never put more than 10 gallons in your tank at a time and never buy gas on a Monday. Want something done? Hammer your elected. DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, AND PAY LESS.
JUST DOO!
Drill Our Own
Help increase the supply of crude, but not significantly. Coal to liquid plants woulod increase supply of fuels significantly, if not cheaply. Nothing will help reduce the cost of fuel.
Given the current “go green” hysteria hitting the nation, I am afraid the President’s call will, once again, fall on deaf ears as the sheeple will all too willingly blame “big oil” and evil SUV’s rather than the real culprits, i.e the Marxists masking as environmentalists. Nonetheless, the truth must continue to be spoken even if it is a waste of breath. One day (as gas prices continue to rise and “windfall profits taxes” result in shortages) the sheeple will realize that blaming the bogeyman results in little and the real culprits will be exposed.
Well there’s a timly request. /sarc
