Why didn’t this show up as a link in my post? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-QYIP7o2-A
I don’t know what the Kid in Upper 4 is. Did you get that I was talking about the ad that is part of the article link, not the ad I mention in my comments? It’s called “One Man”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywXFhulpVPk
I like emailing it to people
>> Why can’t this be used some more?
Hmmm...
at 0:31 into the video, that powerful voice intones:
“...and what must we believe about that president? What does he think?”
Therein lies the problem with the clip, because once the listener gets past the booming authoritative voiceover and the patriotic imagery, he or she recalls that:
1) He thinks your free speech rights should be curtailed
2) He thinks America should be overrun with illegal aliens given amnesty
3) He believes in the Global Warming religion, as doesn’t mind putting you in the unemployment line to “combat” it
4) He thinks terrorists like KSM should be brought into American society, where you can pay taxes to hire their lawyers
5) He doesn’t think it’s important to do his day job (missed SIXTY PERCENT of Senate votes this congress)
... and so forth.
The key, Cinnamon girl, is to create an Orwellian groupthink clip that plays on the patriotic doublegoodspeak in the masculine voice, but somehow doesn’t suggest that voters consider what JMC really thinks, or will do when he’s President.
Since then, McCain has all but changed his party affiliation. McCain's past heroics will not cloud my memory of what he has done to the GOP, Conservatism, the First Amendment, junk science...etc.
I understand that McCain wants to distance himself from President Bush. Fair enough, I distance myself from John McCain and am too embarrassed to show the picture of me standing next to Senator McCain.
To distance himself from Bush is a mistake but if he wanted to he should do it by actually being a conservative and not a pluralist.
Politicians who use outside achievements for political gain should be looked at with extreme suspicion. This suggests megalomania to me, but probably not to the sheople who ignore this character flaw.
Of course, if you are McCain, what is the better record of achievement, several years in a prison in Vietnam, or his time in the US Senate?
The Crypt Keeper?
This is the ad I’m referring to as the best one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywXFhulpVPk
I can keep listing all his faults until you are blue in the face. He’s the nominee and he’ll fight the war on islamic terrorism.
Wow. That is Rockwellesque.
That is NOT the ad you mentioned in post #1, and linked in post #2.
My comments refer to your POSTS, the way they were written.
Look, I’m grateful for and respectful of John McCain’s service to our country.
But POTUS is a tough job looking forward — not a gimmee prize for earlier service.
I agree that McCain is a better choice than Obama and I’ll take that into consideration in the voting booth.
But suggesting that we ignore his MANY faults and wrongheaded policies — SSSH! DON’T MENTION THEM! — and just blindly support him is asking way too much.
“SSSH! DONT MENTION THEM!”
Your criticisms don’t appear to be based on facts. Bring KSM into American society? McCain voted in support of the legislation that prevents these terrorists access to our courts. It was Obama that voted against that legislation (S.3930).
>> Bring KSM into American society?
Well, if McCain closes Guantanamo, where will they go?
And once they’re on American soil... how long before the ACLU forces taxpayer funded lawyers for them?
That is, IF McCain doesn’t knuckle under to his Democrat pals in the Senate and House... which will likely have even stronger majorities after November.
Take a look at the “article” part of my post. The post, not the comments in the thread. It is about the “One Man” ad. The article link is to the “One Man” ad. I realize that it is confusing if you just go to the comments and don’t read the posting.
Do you know how many times McCain’s faults have been MENTIONED on FR? Are you still concerned that maybe there is someone here who isn’t familiar with them? Would it be possible for you to comment on a thread about McCain without mentioning some or all of his faults? Are you so afraid that people might think you aren’t a “true conservative” if you don’t mentions his faults that you feel compelled to always mention them? Just because people like or support Johnny doesn’t mean they agree with everything he’s ever done. As adults, perhaps we can all approach the conversation about his candidacy from that perspective. What do you think?
