Frankly, it’s not just Chicago.
The routine is the same everywhere. Plan a new road, a new stadium, really anything the public has to fund.
Before it’s finalized, the city council, mayor, etc., just happen to buy real estate under or adjacent to the location.

Nearly all IOC remembers bitterly recall that McCain chaired Senate Commerce Committee hearings on the IOC's operations in the aftermath of the bid-city bribery scandal that erupted at the end of 1998.So they're ticked off because someone dared to look into their wrong-doing? Sounds like they're as corrupt as ever.

If Chicago gets the Olympics, I'm guessing that rats’ nest will be cleaned up by 2016..much the same as the rats’ nest cleanup that occurred when the United Center went up... much the same as when Cabrini Green closed.
