You know how this works, they are flying the Confederate flag because their ancestors were democrats....

i suspect the "publick screwl officials" reacted the way they did because they are:

1. FOOLS,

2. ant-southern BIGOTS &

3. PC-DUMMIES.

fwiw, there are LOTS of those PREJUDICED "useful idiots" in the north = i KNOW about that as i was stationed up there with the US Army.

Aside from the fact that is only a Confederate battle flag, not the official flag of the Confederate States of America, consider this. Slavery only existed for about four years under the stars and bars. It existed for eighty-five years under the stars and stripes. Why is there no outrage over the U.S. flag? And no, I’m not saying there should be, just pointing something out.

So what was it being used as a symbol for in this case?

Wasn't it used internationally as a symbol of resistance to tyranny in the years after the WBTS?

The only reason slavery ever existed at all in the United States is because the South demanded it as part of their creating the Nation.

This nation’s history is filled with compromises and attempts to end slavery from it’s very founding, always opposed by democrats and particularly by those in the south.

“Slavery only existed for about four years under the stars and bars.”

FYI stars and bars refers to the First National flag of the Confederacy, not the Confederate battle flag. :)

“..stars and bars refers to the First National flag of the Confederacy...”

I knew that and in re-reading my post, I really didn’t make it very clear. That’s always the problem with typing non work-related items on company time. You spend too much time looking over your shoulder for the boss and don’t pay attention to what you are writing. My point was that there are too many people still willing to blame the South, and to perceive racism in everything. If Obama gets elected, expect that to get much worse.

Oh for.....cryin’ out loud!!!! I had a large patch of the Confederate flag on my jeans when I was in high school. And I WORE them to school, along with my JD#7 shirt. No, I wasn’t in a state that was considered Confederate, but it represented a lot of things I liked - southern rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Tennessee whiskey (Jack Daniels) and men with pick up trucks, guns in the rack and a southern accent.

Possibly. Knowledge of history has never been that strong in this country. The confederate flag could have mistakenly been used as that.

But if it was used as that then it wouldn't be a mistake, would it? I mean if soldiers fighting tyranny in foreign lands adopted the cross as a symbol then it isn't the knowlege of history that is in question.

Maybe so many liberals despise the St. Andrew's Cross because Andrew means "manly" in Greek.

A good third of the confederate population would disagree with that.

Not sure what you mean but, acknowledging your erudition regarding the war, I fail to see how that translates into knowledge of the opinions of the Confederate population.

If the liberals had taken a decent history class on the WBTS instead of spending their day with anarchists, they would not be girly men.

Not sure what you mean but...

I was referring to the one third of the population owned by the other two-thirds of the population. I doubt they felt they had much of a stake in that 'fighting against tyranny' stuff.

what a DUMB post.

as usual, you post is based on NOTHING.

laughing AT you. (by the way, be sure and remind everyone that you claimed that you were a staff-member of the NOLA Confederate Museum, when you were nothing but a child. of course, you admitted that ONLY when you were exposed as a FRAUD.)

perhaps there is ONE person here who is clue-LESS enough to believe the PROPAGANDA you spew, but then maybe NOT, as your reputation for DECEIT,NON-responsive "answers", diversions & HALF-truths is WELL-known to everyone on these WBTS threads.

laughing AT your feeble attempt to avoid the TRUTH.
