***Environmentalists said the cost of inaction on global warming cannot be ignored***

Can someone tell me how "trading" carbon allowances off to someone else has anything to do with saving the planet?

"The bill proposes using proceeds from the sale of carbon emission allowances to funnel $800 billion in tax relief, over 40 years, to people facing higher energy costs, Boxer said".......Ahaa! Now we're getting somewhere...the government is raising your taxes!

How is Obama going to help people in Detroit i.e. the car manufactures and the unions when the “Environmentalists” rules and regulations preclude those companies from making a profit for their stock holders and the little buyer? This is Algore’s dream come true…..the end of the automotive era….the Scam of the centuries, a hoax so large coupled with all the other taxes perpetrated against this country, we will no longer be able to aid others let alone compete in trade. Thank you Environmentalists and politicians.

This measure is totally confused, like so much coming from Washington. If reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a goal, then subsidizing fuel use (by those with the lowest market value, no less, "the poor") does the exactly wrong thing.

And this even if you accept anthropogenic global warming, which I don't.

I wish we could just clean house in the Senate and House of Reps and start fresh. We sure need term limits.

This is a battle that HAS to be won here and NOW! If this goes through, it’s bye-bye America. THAT can’t be overstated.

"People would be thrilled to have gas prices rise only 2 cents a year," declared Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Connecticut independent and co-sponsor of the legislation.

Ya know...ugh...never mind.

Many here will be voting for a man in November, who would gladly sign this into law.....

Will somebody start screaming from the rooftops: “BUSINESSES DO NOT PAY TAXES!! THEIR CUSTOMERS PAY THEM!!!”.

If the energy producers have to pay more, in the form of carbon credits, to produce energy then they simply pass on the higher costs to the consumer. By the time they are passed around and the required government ‘oversight’ and meddling are paid for this will cost every family a minimum of $500.00 a month. Where will they get the money? By not buying anything else which will surely be great for the economy.

Yes. For $500,000 I'll let you pitch a tent at the end of my driveway.

I promise not to bother you. ;-)

McCain has promised to not raise taxes.

And, of course, that little pesky war...thing. Good reasons to vote for the guy.

In other words, no matter who is elected, it WILL pass.

The Carbon-Caps-Trade scam will end most all heavy industry here. Small “non-polluting” industries will be given a redistribution of corporate wealth, while the heavy industrial sector which holds this country up will vanish or leave for other countries.

It will be like nationalizing all free enterprise, and no longer be as such.

The bill also has provision for determining the size and type of air conditioner you have depending on your lacation. Air conditioning is considered an unnecessary luxury in the bill and might have to go in some parts of the country in order to reduce demand on utility companies since they won’t be able to produce as much energy.
