No, you don’t have to join anything. Just give your name and e-mail address. You can uncheck the box for e-mail updates. Worked for me quick and easy. There are prompts to contribute money for the campaign, but you don’t have to and signing petition is not dependent on that.

Beautiful. A plan in action. Now it’s up to the people.

I agree with you. The thing folks have to realize people aren’t perfect.

Another thing: Reasonable minds can disagree. I’ve seen Newt take some good hits, and always come up as a statesman.

We, therefore, the undersigned citizens of the United States, petition the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries.

Nailed It!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

Reducing dependence on imported oil might not have the desired effect of reducing gasoline prices. Just saying.

The oil price now is function of 3 factors. Normal supply/demand force that is vectoring toward ever more increasing demand by developing China and India and is here with us to stay unless China and India will get into a hole. Second is market fear. Fear of losing supply because of Middle East instabilities. Third is play by speculators that hedge that the future prices would go up and that its a good place to invest money. Dynamic that is very similar to all previous bubbles, IT, housing.

So, while drilling is not going to reduce demand and drastically increase supply, it will reassure markets that instability risk can be met. Add to that removing barriers in nuclear power development (that when is combined with emerging pluggable car technology can indeed reduce oil consumption).

Domestic oil reserves in and off our coasts: the Gulf, Montana, the Dakotas, NJ, Ca., Fla., NC are in the gazillions of barrels. That will last another 100 years. Ads by the GOP should state, Don’t blame the oil companies, blame the Dems, the enviro-whackjobs, and the China Syndrome from drilling, and building nuclear energy plants. The non-producers in our nation who usually vote Dem, just do not know the real facts. The Dem leadership does and they lie about them!

Sure. It might be noted that Saudi consumes more oil now than India. The Middle East is industrializing.
