The violent crime rate in Great Britain continues to rise

It continues to rise because the Bobbys STILL carry no weapons and England has outlawed self-protection. English citizens who have the temerity to attempt self-defense (something those of us in the USA take for granted) are as likely to find themselves in front of a judge as the person(s) who perpetrated the crime. Many have already been sentenced to prison for defending themselves.

The problem lies not in the hands of the yobs, but in the hearts of the people.

As I noted in my response to mbynack, the problem is that England has outlawed self-defense. When those who seek to rob, rape, murder or steal from others know that their law-abiding victims are forbidden by (moronic) English law from defending themselves against such attacks, it only emboldens them. And, when England still refuses to allow Bobbys to carry weapons, what criminal won't take advantage of that situation?

In the US, when the CCW laws made their first appearance, I thought we were headed down a slippery slope. Fortunately, I was wrong and England could do well to take a lesson from their American cousins. Appeasing thugs, bullies, murderers, rapists and robbers DOESN'T decrease the violence!!
