True. I didn’t intend to question the patriotism of those who did not grow up in the states. Just thought his lack of elementary school experiences might have caused his obvious disconnect with basic American culture. Although one could make the case that Australia’s culture is more similar to America’s. Therefore growing up in Australia with parents who value America would not have the same effect as growing up in Indonesia with a socialist, atheist mother and her Indonesian husband.

I didnt intend to question the patriotism of those who did not grow up in the states.I didn't read it as that. I can say that growing up as the "yank" wasn't always easy. I felt that it was a love/hate relationship with the Aussies, or at least in the area where I grew up. If anything, the experience made me more patriotic than I might have been if I had grown up here.

Well, that is old news that potatoes can be spelled both ways and was discussed at the time.
But more important, why are you just now discovering the hatchet job on Quayle? That was understood in the 80s. Where have you been?
A great American learns a piece of history, and you shame him for it.
