Really?

And just how did Henry Kissinger, who was a University professor in 1960, just happen to do that? He didn’t go to work for the government until the 1970’s, I believe.

Good to see you again Satan. I was asking myself the same question, the guy must be a nut.

I did a search on Lindsey Williams because I’d never heard of the guy. I found he wrote a book a number of years ago entitled The Energy Non-Crisis, and I found in one article about the book the following:

“Mr. Williams firmly believes that whoever controls energy controls the economy. Thus, The Energy Non-Crisis.
Because of the outstanding public response that has been generated by this book, Lindsey Williams is in great demand for speaking engagements, radio, and TV shows.”
http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/environment/energy/

FWIW: I never heard of the book prior to this posting, nor have I ever heard of Lindsey Williams. I would believe as old as this book is, and the apparent content that it would have been quite newsworthy.

<”Guy must be a nut”?>

Yeah, there sure are a lot of those out there this time of year. Um, why did you call me Satan? Slip of the fingers and hit an “a” rather that an “i”?

In many ways “non-crisis” is correct. If you own a Diesel, you can burn used but filtered vegatable oil instead of the more expensive Diesel fuel.

Changing our habits take effort but it may well pay off in the long run. And not everyone has to do it, just a sizable minority.

I believe that we are in this energy crisis because Nixon, Reagan, and Stephen King conspired to kill John Lennon. It goes without saying that Big Oil was in on it too.

Henry Kissinger, in what then was in no official capacity, was talking to the Saudis, and chiding them for selling their oil for only a slight markup over the cost of getting it out of the ground. Texas Crude was still in plentiful supply, and there was almost zero environmentalist activity preventing further exploration and estraction. They had so much natural gas, that it was flared off as a waste product at refineries, just as a safety precaution. But overly cheap Saudi oil was preventing the Texas wildcatters from making the margins they would have liked to make, and the Cold War made the idea of importing so much of this crude oil seem a bad idea.

The Saudis, reluctant at first to take this advice, saw some virtue in kicking up their prices just a little, and kind of got into the habit, so to speak. OPEC was largely built to protect this nascent international oil trading, and with the oil crisis of 1972 and 1973 (still the Nixon years, you recall, and with Henry Kissinger exerting a totally excessive amount of influence within the Administration), the lessons of years earlier took hold.

Henry Kissinger may not have been a goverment figure in 1960, but he had been doing a lot of advising in years prior to Nixon coming to office.

“I believe that we are in this energy crisis because Nixon, Reagan, and Stephen King conspired to kill John Lennon. “

That has to be inspired by one guy who used to call in to LA radio talk shows. His calls would start out right on topic. But after 30 seconds or so his inner lunatic would get the better of him and he’d spout some version of what you posted.

I heard Lindsey Williams on Coast to Coast. He had an interesting story about preaching in Alaska as a minister to men working on the pipeline in the 1970’s. Supposedly, Williams was told by high level oil company officials about how they control supply to keep prices high.

Even if true then, it is not true now. Western oil companies no longer have the ability to control prices because non-Western producers with divergent interests have the upper hand. Worse, the new wealth of China and other emerging economies has led to an sharp uptick in demand.

Ignore whispers, rumors, and tales of mischief. Supply and demand and self-interest govern oil prices and most everything else in commerce.

It is a "fascinating" 75 minutes wherein this guy lays all the world's energy ills at the feet of the IMF and World Bank (who allegedly own the Amazon Jungle among other things) without ever presenting a single exhibit or verifiable fact to support his tale.

Googling him will bring up a whole panoply of folks from Rense on down ... See: http://www.clayandiron.com/links.jhtml?method=list

He also plugs his book about every two minutes throughout.

That is one of the most bizarre conspiracy theories I’ve heard so far. I’m wondering how this combination of people came about. Time to check out the Tin Foil Universe on the www.

I watched the whole thing and found it fascinating but I am a natural skeptic about grand conspiracy theories.

To do some research I googled

“gull island” oil

and found what I expected, many hits but all recyling Lindsey Williams allegations. I couldn’t find a single story in the ‘legitimate’ press or from an unimpeachable organization.

BUT intriguingly I did find a tiny tidbit mentioning drilling at Gull Island (albeit wrong time frame)

Note a well was drilled to 9945 feet (sounds like a major drill), capped and abandoned BUT THE RESULTS ARE ‘STILL CONFIDENTIAL’. BTW that is the only ‘confidential’ item on the page.

When I have time I may research the ARCO exec said to vouch for Williams story

BTW I didn’t quite get how the World Bank and the IMF supposedly became middlemen in the oil biz. Until Williams fingered them I figured the real culprits were going to be the investment banks, hedge funds and commodity futures speculators, which would make some sense.

Re: Decision concerning the request of ARCO
Alaska, Inc. to include certain portions
of ADL 34626 and ADL 34629 in the Niakuk
pool rules area.

Addendum
Conservation Order No. 329
Prudhoe Bay Field
Niakuk Oil Pool

January 11, 1994

17. The Gull Island 1 well, drilled on ADL 34626, encountered non-oil bearing Kuparuk River Formation.

18. The Gull Island 3 well, drilled on ADL 34629, is still confidential, but was drilled to a depth of 9945 feet TVD and plugged and abandoned on March 14, 1992.

I think Linsey is basically correct.

Anyone who says that oil is in short supply is a fool. We are not being allowed to drill for our own oil. Why? Some blame the environmentalists. Well if thats the case where do they get their money? I’ll bet from large corporations.

Follow the money. Or follow it to who controls it. it will speak volumes.

How did John McLaim get to be the republican presidential candidate?.. beating out a field of much better stronger better financed candidates.. A pregnant mystery... Obviously SOMEONE wanted that to happen... AND forced it to happen..

Who has that much power?.. Hiding Americas energy deposits would be easyier.. The sheeple DO NOT even want to think about it.. AND DON'T..
