Maybe Conservatives could draft Sen. James Inofe to be our candidate this fall? He seems like the only real opposition standing up to the left-wingers right now.

Hmm. Too bad part of the problem IS partisanship, even with American people! Overlooking party identification totally refutes what conservatives are after. But I’m singing to the choir, I’m sure.

I must admit, Kelly, this is an interesting way to give us the same old promises politicians are always making.

I wish to add, as an off-topic aside, that you (personally) made a believer out of me. You and I had bitter arguments over Shwarzenegger a couple years back, and I've come to agree with your premise that as long as we hold our noses and vote for crap because there's an (R) after the name, we'll keep getting crap.

Please accept my heartfelt apologies for the flames....

He will work with anyone who wants to get this country moving again

Why do politicians use the same meaningless boilerplate phrases over and over again? Don't they know how empty they are?

Why should a country "move"? Move where? From what to what? Or do we just move in place, possibly gyrating or swiveling? Maybe we should move backwards - I'd be for that. What's up ahead just looks worse than where we've already been. But I'd prefer not moving at all.

Border state governors have certified and the American people recognize that after tremendous improvements, our southern border is now secure. Illegal immigration is under control, and the American people accept the practical necessity to institute a temporary worker program and deal humanely with illegal immigrants.
:::::::::
A few things wrong with this statement....

1. The security of our borders is NOT A STATE GOVERNMENT ISSUE...IT IS A FEDERAL ISSUE.
2. There is only one way to CONTROL illegal immigration, and that is to STOP IT WITH A FENCE WHICH CANNOT BE VIOLATED. I see no mention of a fence....
3. There is NO DEFINITION of “GREAT IMPROVEMENTS”....
4. There is NO DEFINITION of “UNDER CONTROL”....
5. There has been NO VOTE among the American people as to what THEY ACCEPT as a “PRACTICAL NECESSITY” relative to foreign illegals in our work force....
6. There is NO MENTION of the violation of our laws and what will be done to the FOREIGN CRIMINALS that break our laws......
7. There is NO MENTION of what the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT will do to finally do its job of ENFORCING OUR BORDERS — FENCE OR OTHERWISE.
8. There is NO MENTION of what the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT will have done to ensure THE RIGHTS OF, AND PROTECTION OF, AMERICAN CITIZENS which are being violated now, not only by illegals but pandered to by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT....

The list could go on significantly, but just a few “little” items John, that you ‘forgot’ to mention.

Funny thing but the only people I am afraid of these days is the Federal, State, and local government. How about you, kellynia.

Watching Congress today on C-Span was like watching something from the old Soviet Union.

He will exercise his veto but not subvert legislation through statements.

Huh? Is he saying he surrenders the bully pulpit from the outset that, as President, he will offer no opinion on legislation? I don't get that.

Nice, so now let’s not vote for crap this time.

I hope to send McCain home in bitter defeat, so I won’t have to see the results of his first term.

His policies will damage the economy as will the dems, rather blame them then us.

Screw McCain as he has screwed conservatives.

They are only talking about bowel movements. The old socialists need the GOP to surrender, its like a laxative to bring about hope, and change.

The GOP is more than willing to comply as long as it gets the nation moving leftward.

Americans would not vote for a far right winger

"Far right winger"? Since when has basic conservative principles been classified as "far right"?

"American people accept the practical necessity to institute a temporary worker program and deal humanely with illegal immigrants."

John McCain will never get my vote as I state here every time I get a chance. I saw this speech and was appalled by his statement that he wanted the illegals here to be dealt with in a humane (AMNESTY) way. I hope you people that vote for John McCain enjoys what he will do to our America.

Jeez.

Maybe McCain could tap Obama or Hillary, whomever loses, as HIS Veep.

Another suggestion, they all three get on the dimocRAT ticket: Obama, Prez, Hillary Veep, McCain Secy Defense!
